8. If I get a boarding pass of higher than 75, consider leaving the park and coming back. WHAT TIME WOULD YOU GUYS SAY THEY START HITTING 75? I UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE A 2 HOUR WINDOW, RIGHT? The expo opens at 10 a.m., so I could go do that and come back.

According to the chart below, 75 gets called sometime between 11 AM and 2 PM. (Go by the range between average and highest.)

Yes but HS was having a problem drawing crowds (like Epcot now) so they needed to transform the park. With SWGE and Toy Story it's now going to be the second biggest draw to MK (from fourth). Think of ride quality now. You have : TOT. RNR. TSM. SDD. ASaucers. ROTR. MFSR. as front line tier 1 attractions. That's better than every other park (dare I say even than MK, obv MK has more capacity). But it's now a comparable "teenage" park to counter universal.

if HS added an outdoor top line thrilling (IP themed of course) roller coaster it might end up being the most popular park in all of Orlando. ( pls don't touch RNR!)

is a kids ride, and RnR is a crappy Vekoma coaster. Slinky is a really fun family coaster. Plus SR has plenty of issues. The Studios has 3 top rides, one being an old video game. It’s not even close to the best park in Orlando. It is simply the biggest poster child of what is wrong at WDW, as Disney has ignored ride capacity for decades, and attendance has more than doubled.

WDW visitors have been drooling for a truly top tier E ticket. RotR is finally that ride. This is a one ride thing, Rat is not one, Tron isn’t one, and I’m pretty sure GotG won’t be one.

MMRR might also be one, which will definitely cause trouble for the Studios, as it may have the only top tier NEW rides in all of WDW for a long time. And it simply has a very low overall ride capacity, that can’t make 40,000 people happy. Hell, MMRR and RotR don’t have a COMBINED capacity of that, so riding ONE will be a good think riding BOTH will be highly unlikely.

I get that people have to be in the park to get a BG to stop thousands of people getting them who have no intention of going and clogging the system, but couldn't they do a deposit system? Just do it the same as the dining reservations. Boarding groups start being offered at 7am and if you get one then don't use it, Disney charges you $10 each.

That way people wouldn't have to queue early in the morning, if they get a late boarding group they can plan something else for the morning, but only people serious about going will bother getting the boarding groups. People who struggle to use the app could even do it at the hotels with a cast member or two at each one ready to help people for half an hour in the morning.

I’m not sure I follow this. If you show up at 6am, surely that means you’re serious about riding?

I think you’d actually be less serious about riding if you could do it at a hotel and not put the extra effort in to be at the park. I don’t think no-shows are the issue.

I get it. He’s saying let people apply for a reservation each morning at 7 am, but if you don’t scan into the park and use the reservation you get charged $10.

It frees Disney up from having the chaos at the entrance and it frees me up to go back to bed.

On the morning of the 1st I took the skyliner back to pop and slept another 2 hours before heading back over for my ride. With this system I could have woken up, booked from my room and then gone back to bed.

That just seems like you would have more locals to compete with.

OK, I've been reading everything. Let me know if I have this right for my effort at this next Thursday. I am a party of just me.

1. Drive my own car or use Uber. Not staying at a skyliner hotel so know that busses are iffy.
2. Leave Poly by 5:45 just in case there is parking mess. That gives me an hour to drive over there, and walk to the gates and be in the park by 6:45 [DOES THAT SOUND LIKE ENOUGH TIME??]
3. Don't carry a bag so I can avoid the bag check.
4. Open the app precisely at 7:00.
5. HERE IS WHERE I GET FUZZY -- WHAT IS THE ORDER OF OPERATION FOR THE APP?
6. PRAY.
7. If it doesn't work go to guest assistance.
9. Keep the app open during the day, and watch where the BG's are. WHAT IS THE ORDER OF OPERATION TO DO THAT?

Sorry for being so granular, but I don't want to get up this early and screw it up by user error. . . Thanks!!

Padme,

1. listen to what @disneygeek90 said, they are spot on

2. I know the feeling of overthinking but you are waaaaaay more prepared than the average Joe on this, so feel some comfort in that

3. you’ll have a chuckle about all this self induced stress/planning after you get a boarding pass and experience the ride (I know I have that feeling all the time - the unknown which I can’t control and have not experienced yet)

4. Try as you might to avoid too many photos the first time through. There’s so much to take in you don’t want to sit behind a screen for any of it. Take solace that you can get photos another time.

In my personal experience there were empty bag checks open and I was told I had to wait in the 10 person deep no bag line since I didn’t have a bag. That made no sense to me but it’s Disney world security so what else is new. Not like the no-bag line kept me from getting in before opening time, as long as you get scanned in before open (which you will if you are there...) you have an equal chance of getting a boarding pass provided you have an expensive smart phone, running the latest app, understand the app, are quick to refresh the app and have a lot of good luck.
I had read and seen no-bag guests going thru bag check line when it ended up being shorter. I'm surprised (maybe not) that now you can't choose. If this procedure stays, give yourself flexibility to qualify for both bag and no-bag line by stuffing a grocery bag in your pocket. Take it out and put your phone inside to switch lines, lol.

It hasn't yet been confirmed that the latest or most expensive phones have an advantage, especially with all the variables. Plenty of guests reporting an iPhone 8 beat the 11pro in their party or similar cases, but we don't know what else each individual did.

We got to the park around 6:30. They were not scanning finger prints. We were waiting on Sunset to ride ToT when the rope dropped at 7:00 and the boarding passes opened up. My wife and I had been refreshing the My Status page and going back and forth between the home screen and Rise page in the app continuously for a few minutes before 7 and the buttons were grey until someone behind me said they got in group 38. My buttons continued being grey. I restarted the app and meanwhile my wife got us into group 75, probably at 7:01 or 7:02. The buttons in my app were still grey for another 30 seconds or so after this. Two girls in front of us were trying too and their buttons continued being grey. I said try to restart the app, but it didn’t help. By that time all boarding groups were probably gone. You just have to be lucky in these few minutes after 7;00, I guess.

Our group was called around 12:10 and we entered at 12:20. The line was long, almost from the outside area, but moved very quickly. Got to Rey at 12:40 and in our vehicle at 12:52.

This was our 4th time. Things I noticed that weren’t right: Hux’s audio in holding cell was out-of-sync. After checking seatbelts Finn should appear on the large screens but he didn’t. You could hear Finn say “follow this route”, but the screen didn’t change. In the large room (bridge room?) where you pass the two returning vehicles, one of the other droid’s eyes were not lit up. At the end our vehicles stopped in front of Bek for quite a while. I think unloading of the vehicles in front of us must have taken extra long. Two other vehicles also stopped behind us. There is not a lot of space for vehicles to back up here after you come off the simulator. While we waited there was audio we hadn’t heard before and Bek was moving around doing stuff. When we finally started moving Bek lit up and talked to us.

I still love this ride. 😍 I wish that the simulator part lasted longer. Perhaps if they had built 6 in instead of 4 it could have lasted 30 seconds longer and the drop back to Batuu wouldn’t be so jarring. I also think that after you see Kylo Ren for the last time that the iconic alarm should start blaring to increase the urgency of leaving. When you get in the simulator the sound could fade away, emphasizing that you’re leaving the Star Destroyer. I’ll mention this to Scott Throwbridge next time I see him. 😉

I also had the backup at the end for Hux and took note of panicked!Finn. Did not experience anything else you did, though.

You should edit to put the last 2 paragraphs in a 'spoiler' box.
Hey, that's my trick!
That's why we rent a car! Afternoon parking lot naps, lol.
