News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I asked this elsewhere, but I'll ask here since it is pertinent.

I am due to fly into MCO early on a Thursday morning, and anticipate getting to Hollywood Studios by noon (hopefully). In terms of getting a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance - should I try to get one at 7:00am and hope I get into a group that boards in the afternoon, or should I wait until the 1:00 boarding group sign up?

Thanks!
My opinion... go for 7. I was an hour late on Sunday and they did not even question it.

And if they are more than an hour late? What if they do not get there until they are 3 hours late? I wouldn't/won't chance it. I am going to be landing at MCO at 10:30am on our arrival day with a park pass for DHS. I am still not chancing getting to the park well after my boarding group and the CM telling us that there is nothing they can do. What if I get BG 3 or 4 and it is called at 9:00am and I don't get to DHS until 12:00pm. I doubt Disney will hold my spot for 3 hours.

I got group 7 this morning!

My flight from NJ is at 12:35 haha!! Might be tardy.

Was in NJ this morning! At MGM now. Very late but OF COURSE they let me ride at 5:54 boarding group 7!!! Just an FYI

Definitely do what you feel comfortable with but I don't think I've heard of anyone being turned away.

I've been looking at flights for the same time this year that we are going next year (still not within the 333 day limit yet) and I keep seeing some flights that land at MCO at 9:00am and 9:30am. If I can book one of those for our trip next year then I will definitely try the BG at 7am while we are in the air.

Stupid question, but do they not call all boarding groups? Like if you got in a group with the 1pm, is there a chance you still wouldn't ride the ride?

Yes, some of the later groups in 1pm may well not get called. They used to call them "backup" boarding groups, but not sure if they still use that terminology. All of the times I've gotten it, whether at 7 or 1, I've been in a BG under 100

Good to know! Thank you! Looks like I'm going to try and gamble and go with the 7am window. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a good signal at the airport!

I thought I saw someone mention this earlier, but can't find it. Just trying to be prepared for my trip. Our group will have 1 under 3 w/o a ticket and w/o a park pass reservation. When practicing she is in our list (obviously no one is prechecked). On the day I try to get a boarding group, will she be checked off or no because she does not have a park pass associated with her for that day? Luckily, she is the first person in the list, so shouldn't take too much extra time to uncheck her, but just wanted to be prepared for what to expect and obviously every microsecond counts.

Only people with tickets and park reservations on you friends and family will be checked.

If you can swing it, try and hit the final join boarding group at 7:00:06. I know it sounds so precise, but on days where I want to sleep in a bit I can routinely pause just a second or so to score a group in the 40+.
