I was there this A.M. and took many pics that I'll upload later.....pics of the lines to get in prior to 6:30 A.M.....pics of the Slinky Dog line wrapped all the way out of TSL to the Walt Disney Presents Mike and Scully Theatre Area! Pics of the "inner rope drop area" on Hollywood BLVD.....etc......

It was crazy, but within a couple of hours it was manageable...sort of...but much busier than we expected

By the way....I have another pic showing Boarding Groups 31-52 being called...the pic was taken at 12:07
here is the link to the other thread(and my pics).....

I'm staying at Pop Century and decided to head over to Hollywood Studios this morning on the Skyliner. When we got to the Skylier at 6:10 am, we were told it would not open until 7:30 am even though they had all the gondolas going. I ended up having to drive to Hollywood Studios since the line for the Hollywood Studios bus was ridiculously long, was in the gates by 6:45 am and got Boarding Group #60. Rode the ride by 2:00 pm.

I ran into this problem on my trip as well. It would be nice if the skyliner / bus hours would be clearly posted.

The good news was despite me having to wait for the second bus and not getting tapped into the park until about 5 minutes after open, I still got a BG so the force was still with me!

So I’m thinking my idea of being at the park by 6 isn’t so crazy after all. :D

I wouldn't arrive any earlier than 30 mins before Park Opening.....and getting there that early will still have you see extreme line to scan in to the Park

I get everyone is not risking it, but as long as you have scanned in by Park open, you'll be fine

And remember, the Boarding Groups do not Open until Park Opening.....we arrived prior to 6:30 A.M. this morning, and the Boarding Groups "opened" at 7:00 A.m. (Park Opening).........we got Group 21 at 7:00-7:02ish this A.M.....

**edit** By the way Boarding Group 21 was called at 9:34 A.M. this morning....and remember, there was an over hour delay in calling any Boarding Group....so when the ride opened, it moved along quickly
Wife and I were there this morning as well. We were in boarding group 26 and parked a little after 6:30. Thought you might have caught us in your Slinky Dog pics, but we were not that far back. Rode fairly quickly after “rope drop.”

So I’m thinking my idea of being at the park by 6 isn’t so crazy after all. :D

We rode ROR twice this week and both times got into the park (scanned through) at 6:45ish. The first day was closer to 7 than 6:45 I believe. Anyway, allow for mishaps that might make you late to the park to make sure you are through the scanners before 7. But getting to the park extremely early does not help you get into an earlier boarding group.

Also, both days we rode this week, Monday and Thursday, the ride was down for over an hour. Got into the backup groups both days.

We're hitting DHS Jan 29th (wed). Let's hope touring plans and this thread have served me wisely.
I'll be there Jan. 30th! Do you think they'll keep the 8:00am open time?
We will be in HS on Jan 28th and probably most days until we leave on the second. I have really enjoyed reading this thread everyday. I’m hoping the 8am stands but I’m not counting on it.

I’m hoping that we get an early boarding group. I have 730 FPs for slinky an 839 FPs for Star tours. If we could be done with dhs by 10 that would be great. We could go over to Epcot and enjoy the festival of the arts stuff the rest of the day and then go swimming in the afternoon. 🤞

We're set up with FPs at 1040 and later that day. We'll see

We have the same plan....This morning at rope drop we hit RnR and by the time we were done, the line for ToT was down to 10 mins..... After RotR, we went to the resort for a bit, then went to AK and hit EE, Navi, and the Safari. We pondered riding Avatar, by getting in line at 7:45, but the stated wait was 155 mins and didn't feel it was worth it.....we were sure that was extremely inflated to get people out of the Park for the After Hours group, but still didn't want to wait.

Tomorrow we have a FP for Slinky at 9:30......Plan to rope drop TSM, then head to ToT or RnR......We have zero desire to ride MF or Star Tours, and are beginning to get our fill of RotR....tomorrow might be it for a while...

Then head to Epcot for the Awesome Planet and Impressions de France......should be easy enough to ride Soarin as well. Then, of course take in the Arts......

If we can accomplish all of this by mid-afternoon, we might head back to the resort, take a breather and possibly take in the After Hours tomorrow night.

That is certainly on the aggressive end, but if we are able to hit that we would have had a tremendous two days......

Yes....and pace your energy supply as you might arrive at 7:00 A.M. and your Boarding Group may not be called until late afternoon/early evening....
Seriously, the latest we slept any of the 9 days we were there was 430 am. We rope drop and close the parks every day. Made it to HS by 500 and 530 am. Disney is not the vacation for people who want to sleep in. You can sleep at home for free. Why spend thousands of dollars to sleep?

Quick question about the “refresh status” method for acquiring a boarding pass. Should I be refreshing that status page by dragging down, as pictured below, or simply keep going back and forth from that page to where the “join boarding group“ button is. Oddly specific question, I know. Lol

I believe this method to refresh is just clicking "my status", hitting the back arrow and then repeat until the groups show up.

Backups opened at 7:22, and they’ve called up to group 19!
Up to group 21 now....

I can tell you it doesn’t seem as busy as yesterday A.M.

Another thing is there is NO strategy as far as when you’ll ride! We INTENTIONALLY created our Boarding Group at 7:01ish(delayed for a moment and then tried)

We received BF 61....While we thought we accomplished our goal of a later Boarding Group, and thus an afternoon Call....it doesn’t look like that will be the case....already at BG 21 and barring issues we’ll be called by lunch

You technically could have dropped your pass and then picked up new ones, if you didn’t like that 61 number. But yeah, those first few minutes are a bit of a crapshoot.

And every number is very dependent on the ride operational status.

Some people on the Disboards reported success asking GET to move them to a later BG.
