There was definitely downtime today. I passed by the ROTR entrance while on my way to Droid Depot around 6:20ish, and they completely had the entrance blocked by CMs and Guest Relations. As usual, a large mass of groups and a line of people were forming/present. I didn't stop for too long, but it was evident what was going on.

By the time I finished building my Droid and was exiting GE through Grand Ave, which was around 7:30ish, it was already back up running and people were being let in, and not so much of a mass of people or a line up in front.

And so that also concludes my visit to Batuu (and WDW) for the meantime. Already looking forward to my next trip, whenever that will be!!

We went the first time on 12/15. Due to a Lyft driver that never showed up, we had to take a bus and did not get there until 5:30 we scanned in and got boarding group 51 we were able to ride a little after noon. The second time was on 12/17 we arrived at 5:00 and we scanned in and got boarding group 15 we were able to ride by the time we got back to Galaxy's Edge. Thirty minutes made a world of difference.

While that may have been true during your visit (as well as mine a few days before yours) after your last day (on the 18th, I think) they changed to the "boarding groups open at published park opening time" method. As long as you're inside the park before park opening time, it makes no difference what time you arrive.

Were there less people because of the rain?
Perhaps there were slightly less, but the crowds still covered much of Hollywood Boulevard (and the part of Sunset that was open) by 6. I was expecting the same scenario as before and wasn’t surprised that the first 70 boarding groups disappeared so quickly.

Would be an interesting day to rope drop the other parks (was thinking of attempting a FoP run), but the rain’s getting worse and that’s enough for me to head back to the Swan.

Mission accomplished, though, and as of 7:05 groups 12-29 are boarding.

Is it a fair assumption that approximately 45 minutes is needed to reset the ride and perform checks? Just seems that is usually the typical length of delay so I’m curious :).

Imagine that.
Surprised they aren't keeping it 7 AM until MMRR has been open a month or so.
It could still change again ;)

regardless, I’d still follow the advice thats been posted in this thread regarding the time to arrive vs posted opening time.

We will be in DHS on Tuesday 1/14 and I really hope it stays at an 8am opening. We already had to change our schedule once when it switched from 9am to 8am  My girls and I will not be riding anything Star Wars but will obviously have to be there by rope drop to do everything in Toy Story Land. I really can’t see us all getting there (happily) by 6:30am.

So we will finally get to go to tomorrow. Woohoo! One question I had though was do you create your party at the same time as you are trying to get a boarding group (I assume this is the case) or can you create your party of fellow travelers before that so that it’s ready to go when they start releasing boarding groups (I doubt this is an option but want to make sure)?

You select who is in your boarding group when the groups are released at opening time.

Keep checking those times.

Oh I will, I’ve been stalking this thread since the ride opened 😁 If it’s changed to 7am, my husband can go alone if he wants and we’ll meet him there. We have an 8:40am FP for Slinky Dog. If we end up unable to ride the other 2 Toy Story rides because the standby is too long by the time we arrive, then oh well. It is what it is😔
