Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disneyland

If Disney had a problem with what vloggers are doing, Disney would shut them down. Instead, Disney rewards them with freebies and early access to things like Rise.

Yup, almost like Disney knows it's free advertising. Every tiny thing shared on social media is free advertising for Disney generating hype and discussion about their product.

Its literally nothing to Disney if a vlogger makes $5 off a monetized video. They got advertising to a few thousand or more people and didn't have to pay for an employee or ad space.

Any reports of crowds lining up today, a supposedly slow Tuesday?

The second time SoCal Selects can try for a BG.
Here to try again for a pass; they’ve dedicated the center and right turnstiles to magic morning/EMH and the left turnstiles for regular folks. The EMH guests were just let in, with the line 3/4 of the way to DCA. The regular lines are just past the monorail.

I’m worried that with the fewer operating hours they’ll cut off the boarding groups at some absurdly low number.

So, am I reading this page with the "wait times" at the bottom correctly? A guest has to get to the park early enough to be in the park at 8am. They then jam on the app and hope they get a reasonable boarding group. Then, assuming their group is called, they stand in line for an hour
Well, you know people said it was easier to plan for DLR than WDW, so Disney decided they had to fix that :).

I won't be going until there is a buy-your-way-to-the-front-of-the-line system because the current system sounds like my worst $150/day nightmare.

I'm just going to throw this out there. I'll grant you my conspiracy theory is ludicrous...

Does anyone else think that the low capacity of Rise, the "lottery" boarding group nightmare requiring you to be there at opening and no guarantee of actually seeing the attraction undoubtedly resulting in people having to come back and try again is very convenient considering that the problem since Galaxy Edge opened is that no one was even coming to DLR. Now people have to come over and over just to try to get on the new ride!
I'll go one further. I'm thinking of making a trip to DHS because the odds of getting a boarding group are higher than DLR. Do you think Disney planned this slow loader to transfer some of DLR's amazing attendance to DHS?

Update: lines for EMH are still across the esplanade, and now the regular lines are too.

EDIT: they let us in at 8:10am. Sounds like it’ll be a very rough day for boarding groups.

There's a part of me that wishes that the boarding system would prioritize passes as follows during this first month:

1. Hotel Guests
2. Day/Multi-Day Tickets
3. Passholders

I'm guessing they could easily build the system to recognize tickets based on these purchase categories.

Each of those groups alone would have enough people to completely fill the boarding groups for the day.

That said, I do wish there was a way that those who want it enough, can work harder to gaurantee a BG. Suppose its just the capitalist in me.

Coming up on 6pm and the ride has been closed for about two hours. Still waiting for it to reopen and move past Boarding Group 72. Park closes at 11pm tonight. I'm hoping this post un-jinxes it!

ok well that is the problem, why would you schedule to close a park at 11pm on a holiday weekend at a time that you opened a major ride and know that it will be highly in demand.

What happened to the old times when TDA would accomodate as many guests even if it menat keeping the ride operating a few hours after the park closed. They did it for the last major attraction - Indy and Star tours as well as captain EO before that
