Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I trust Ignohippo too and believe they trust their source but it still doesn't make it accurate. I'm holding out hope they actually EXPAND but I'm resigning myself to them ruining a good part of the park. Yes for something a lot better but eh.

And what about 50s vs. Hollywood & Dine?

No info. When going over the plan, they just said that building was where 50s Prime Time currently is and that it would continue to be a restaurant and have character dining. I think they were speaking of the building itself, not necessarily 50s Prime Time specifically.

Honestly, we were discussing so much, it was just a quick statement. It was a really minor detail compared to everything else. I've never been there, so I didn't know enough (or care, honestly) to ask questions.

Something to think about is if they'll keep Star Tours open, at least for part of the construction. Taking away one of the only rides left at DHS during this construction (especially since they'll most likely have to close TSMM before they open TSL as well), will they leave Star Tours open while they demolish Indy, Echo Lake and the things closer to the hub and then close the attraction when its time to build the rockwork and re-theme the exterior? They could use Muppets as an access point during this time as well.

No, but it is an artist's interpretation of the blueprints and is instructed by the designers of the project as well as the executives in charge.
I think you are reading too much into the concept art. especially at such an early phase of the development. I also don't think Prime Time will go anywhere, it is much to popular. I think they will use the top half of Echo Lake and leave the bottom half. And proceed into the parking lot.

However, Prime Time is practically in the demolition zone. While popular, a Star Wars restaurant will be twice as more popular than the 50's diner ever was.

I think you hit it on the head. I believe the Falcon ride will be a cross between star tours and mission space. That will be awesome if done right.

Imagine the queue going through a space hanger and then boarding the falcon.
All the detail, sights sounds of an immersive queue.

You are then given a choice...do you want to be park of the piloting team or one of the gunners of the ship.

The cockpit you choose looks straight from the film.
You strap yourself in and through a mixture of motion simulation, state of the art screens, immersive surround sound, a film score, the engine roar of the falcon you are completely transported into the fantasy.

How will they do this?
If two riders were in a gunner and two riders in the cockpit. They would need at least a mixture of 70 gunners and cockpits running.
If they had a ride that lasts 2.5 minutes and another 2.5 minutes of load and unload time. (not sure if that's realistic) You could get 1680 riders an hour.
Is that possible? How big would the building need to be to fit 70 simulators in?
It would be cool if it could be done though it sounds like it could be a lot of trouble keeping the thing running with 70 individual ride systems needing constant attention.
Keep the faith it will be a cool ride.

This would be AWESOME! If this is similar to what we are getting...consider me stoked!

You don't think a Star Wars restaurant would be more popular than the Prime Time? I do.

Disney know from the recent premium Star Wars events that there is huge demand for everything and anything Star Wars, and that is before the next round of movies hit.

You could put another 10 or so in back, some playing chess or practicing with light sabers.

I didn't say Star Wars restaurant wouldn't be more popular. I just don't think the Star Wars restaurant will be where the Prime Time is now. I think we will have both. And yes I fully believe a Star Wars restaurant would be swamped.

Cantina would be popular, but Disney should be more restrained in using the IP. There really shouldn't be any character dining, Darth Maul should not exist with Darth Vader @ Jedi Academy. They should pick part of the timeline and stick to it and own it.

I know 14 acres is the biggest ever single themed land expansion ever, but do you think if Disneyland didn't get Star Wars land we would have gotten a bigger land at DHS. Specially since Disneyland is so land restricted we could have gotten a bigger themed area of Star Wars at DHS since that is not land restricted.

Probably not, no. I think that there is a bigger chance that DHS would have received nothing at all if DL wasn't getting their version.
However, obviously the DHS one would be easier to expand due to the boundary limitations at DL.

I'm going off the fact everything Star Wars related has been asked to sign multiple NDAs: Parks, Movies, Games, etc. Yet your source has the ability to break them so easily, I would be more comfortable - if others could confirm or if you had multiple sources from Glendale. Something smells fishy ...
Just take it and toss it in the pile of possible but unsubstantiated rumors.

You've been around long enough to know how to play this game. You gather up all the rumors, hand sort for obvious counterfiet info. Shove the rest through the "Facts Assimilator" and out pops what will "probably" happen.

I'm guessing you're stuck in the hand sorting stage with this info. Toss, don't toss. For me, it makes sense so it went into the Assimilator.

They can replace the Indy's food garage and ABC commissary. Leave my prime time alone! /britneyspearsstyle :hilarious:

If they could pull it off...it will be AWESOME! Can you imagine two star destroyers heading right at you and you have to pull off a manuver
the repairing could be interesting in the " interactive queue" style.
because going to " pilot" the falcon and you end doing some cablework..will make me fume in disappoint!

Yeah that would S##k...waiting in line for 2 hours and you have to get all greasy (yes real grease on this ride...spared no expense!) fixing a ship and missing the action. Part of the Queue would be cool though.

but, it would be realistic to the theme of the land, Star Wars fanbois can't complain.

Personally, I hope they keep any interactive elements in the attraction to a bare minimum.
I could write an essay about how supposedly interactive, video game-like functions of theme park attractions are almost always disappointing, but the short version is that they're meant to make the rider feel more in control but inevitably have the opposite effect.

That is why i'm interested in what Universal Creative and Nintendo come up with.
