From the site that can't be named (Although I still don't understand why)

I think this may have been discussed before, but are their plans for a new facade on the outside of GMR and TSMM. I never realized how large those 'stages' are. Or are they just going to disguise this with the SW berm and landscaping?

It's amazing how prevalent aerials are now. Until recently, a project like this would have largely been viewed from the ground with little to see due to location. It's really cool effectively watching the enormous projects under way from the sky.

It's also nice having members with architectural background. I largely don't know what I'm seeing so thanks for the understandable explanations.

Actually in the press release it was billed as a potential concert venue among other things. It's main purpose will be cheerleading though, yes.

Actually, in Press Releases, the cheerleading competition aspect always got top billing and its use for other venues certainly seemed almost an afterthought...

In their Blog announcement: ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex To Become New Epicenter of Cheer and Dance

In a Blog post recapping the year: New Indoor Sports Venue – Earlier this year, we announced that ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will build a new indoor multi-sport venue, adjacent to the Jostens Center and featuring a flexible design that can accommodate competition groups of varying sizes.

In their official press release: New Cheerleading, Dance Venue for ESPN Wide World of Sports – A first-of-its-kind venue specifically designed for the high-energy world of cheerleading and dance team competition opens its doors in 2017 at ESPN Wide World of Sports. The complex is collaborating with Varsity Spirit, the nation’s top cheerleading organization, in bringing the new multi-use venue to life. The venue will include a flexible design that allows for as many as four competition areas. With the ability to seat more than 8,000 guests, the sports and entertainment venue also can accommodate six regulation basketball courts, six regulation volleyball courts or be configured for concerts.

I wasn't saying that cheerleading wasn't the main purpose, but that it has many other uses too.

They are opening new helicopter tours from I-drive so expect we will get fairly regular updates. Be easier if the mouse just gave us construction cams.

If the Mickey ride really is 2019 they'll have to close GMR soon. I mean, if it took them about a year and a half for Frostrom...

Also, hooray for even more lost capacity!!!
I know. It should be in the SW launch bay. My wife knows I'm a huge Star Wars fan and said, "sure", when I said there was the launch bay and path of the Jedi. I had to say that I was sorry she had to sit through two movie clips that we had seen before. The launch bay really didn't have any organization to it. The props were cool but you didn't really know which way to go. We almost went out the exit by accident. Big Star Wars fan here but the launch bay could go away. I'm not a big fan of the Great Movie Ride but it services a lot of people who love it. DHS needs (like you said) needs to add quality capacity. Does Disney have any idea of how many peopl are going to flock to this park because of SWL? At least DLR has a massive amount if attractions at its park, DHS will, I believe, have under 10 rides in its park.

That is a big concern.
I can't imagine it would take that long to erect a new warehouse elsewhere (not that they will actually do this). I feel as though the way Disney works, demoing the interior of GMR will end up costing nearly as much as constructing a purpose-built warehouse on an expansion pad (like the parking lot plot originally earmarked for SWL, assuming they are still building the parking garages, which I had expected to commence construction by now). The bones of GMR are wonderful and with relatively little money, you could update the visuals and end up effectively with two new high-capacity E-tickets out of this Mickey project. I am sometimes astonished at how inefficiently this company burns through money or fails to look at the long-term goals of a project.
