Star Wars - How much is too much?

I am a Star Wars fanatic. I don't think there can be "too much". With that said, once complete, all Star Wars should be left in SWL. The same goes for Frozen, it should be in Norway only. This way if you want to avoid it you know where not to go.

Five attractions and 31.6 acres would be too much Star Wars.
Three-Four attractions and 27.2 acres would be just right.
Two or less attractions and 19.6 acres would be not enough.

I feel like its a valid concern. I'm a huge fan of comics but in recent years the over saturation of Marvel and DC stuff has begun to spoil it for me. I have an even larger fascination with Star Wars. It rivals my Disney fandom and occasionally pushes into the lead. I'm extremely excited about all the new attractions, films, series, and comics that come along with sort of thing. I just hope it doesn't get slightly tainted for me. Part of the fun is the waiting and speculating about upcoming projects. A lot of the concern also stems from worry that we will have a drop in quality. The law of averages would lead you to believe that eventually something will flop and be a disaster. Hopefully I'm worrying for nothing and the luster never fades. So far so good. I hope it just keeps getting better and better.

in terms of disasters or flops, from general opinion we've had them (the prequels. mostly 1 & 2) so i wouldn't worry.

if rogue one proves a success and is very good, its safe to say its in good hands. rogue one and episode 8 will determine if episode 7 was either a lucky fluke or if it was because JJ / Kasdan did a great job.

only time can tell. personally there are much more interesting stories than marvel can pull out..

I was just in WDW last week, and I have to say that TDS really felt like Star Wars Land already. And yeah, I thought it was too much.

I was at DHS yesterday, and Star Wars is definitely everywhere- but I didn't mind it.

We arrived at the Studios to see SW banners, got a map plastered with SW, heard SW music as we walked up Hollywood Blvd., to find a SW show that had just ended, but would be back in an hour. So we turned into Starbucks to find 3 different kind of SW cupcakes, and we sat at the Starbucks porch to people watch- every other person had a SW shirt on, I must have seen 100 different designs. We enjoyed the Stormtroopers wandering around Animation plaza (their audio and interactions were excellent), debated getting one of several SW balloons, and stopped in the new Brown Derby Lounge, where they had SW cocktails. The bartender regretted to inform me that he was out of glowing Millenium Falcons for my drink, but that made it $4 cheaper so I didn't mind. And the longest line we saw was for Launch Bay (but then again, we weren't there long, just meeting friends).

Again, I don't mind all the SW- I actually quite GLAD that there is something new to see at DHS- but it is EVERYwhere.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan. As a kid I read all the spin off novels, and I admit I was a bit annoyed when it was announced they were no longer canon (I understand why, but my childhood was invested in them). So far I think Disney is doing a good job balancing the desire to please fans and make a profit without oversaturating the market. I was cautiously optimistic, then very pleased with The Force Awakens. I'm looking forward to Rogue One, and think they're on the right track with the Star Wars land plans I've seen.

With that said, I am a little worried about them going overboard. Like @BigRedDad posted, I agree that Star Wars should be more or less contained within SWL. This is both to prevent burnout from using a property too much, and to not annoying the less fanatic visitors (or those who don't like it at all) who visit the parks. The same should be true for other franchises, series, etc in the parks.

And like @JIMINYCR, I am a bit disappointed that Disney, like the rest of Hollywood, seems to be relying more on already established franchises. And this is where I'm worried it could get into, not so much too much Star Wars, but almost a dilution of what makes it so great. I know there were some complaints about the parallels between The Force Awakens and the original movie. I think some of that was necessary to bring back the many of us fans that were discouraged by the prequels. Rogue One looks like it will do a good job exploring a new part of the universe. But do we really need a Han Solo prequel trilogy? For me at least, Harrison Ford = Han Solo. I'm not really interested in watching a new actor try to retcon a backstory. This is where it might venture into too much Star Wars and seems like more of a money grab to me (I admit I may be wrong though and reserve the right to change my mind in the future)

Wow, my post turned out to be longer than I'd intended! What can I say, I'm a Star Wars fan

Wait, it's a trilogy? I thought it was just 1 film?

Look, I think it doesn't matter when we think there is too much Star Wars. They will keep making movies because it makes money. I love Star Wars and I can't wait for Star Wars Land. So for right not I'm saying BRING ON MORE STAR WARS!!!

Energy, you make the world go round!
Star Wars is one of the most successful and iconic franchises in film history and a significant part of popular culture. I think it is significantly under represented in the parks. I also don't have a problem with the films. Star Wars is a vast universe that has infinite story possibilities. I don't think the movies will get "old" as long as they are well made.

Agreed.

The changes at DHS was always inevitable after it stopped being a actually working animation/production studio. I think a lot of people forgot that the change to the park BEGAN when Lights, Motors, Action shortened the backlot tour. The changes continued when Toy Story Mania literally took the spot of the only sound stages in the park.

Honestly, looking at the attendance of Star Wars Weekends, I think it's was/is a no brainier to make a Star Wars Land. DHS has a great opportunity to add rides and attractions based on Disney (Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm) and I really am confused why people are so hesitant to this change. Maybe that people don't understand or like Star Wars, which I get, but this is only the first change of new exciting things to come. I remember the shear excitement of riding the original Star Tours and it put us straight in the movie! Star Wars fans and their following have so much in common with Disney fans (besides the obvious business ties they've had in the past). Both are absolutely passionate about the movies, in fact many people tear up the way we tear up as we watch Wishes or IllumiNations. Being a fan of both Disney and Star Wars, I cannot be more excited about Star Wars Land. I will undoubtedly ugly cry when I am first able to walk aboard the Millennium Falcon.

I am one of those wierdos who just don't "get" Star Wars. But I understand many people love it, so I am happy you all get something good.

I think the presence is too much at the Studios, but I get they need to keep that place alive, and Star Wars is helping. Fireworks are great!

The Obi Wan Trilogy is rumor.
We know all the rest that you mentioned to be in plans...i believe I've read there's more certainty about a Bobba Fett stand alone movie.

Ewan pretty much confirmed he had spoken to Kathleen Kennedy in a recent TMZ interview but he wasnt able to discuss anything.. and then said "Oh and maybe there will be a trilogy or something" its going to happen. there is so much story between 3 and 4.

The boba fett thing was denied somewhere but cant remember who and where, i think it was a statement from Lucasfilm about the han solo casting.

i dont think Boba can hold a movie by himself, i think it would make sense to heavily involve him in rogue one (which is already half confirmed thanks to LEGO i think?)

Not quite. It was all very light hearted, and the transcription from the interview where he was asked about meeting Kathleen Kennedy reads: "I’m not sure I’m at liberty to say, really, but I’m very interested in doing that. That would be great. Maybe there’s even a trilogy! (laughs)"

I wouldn't call that confirmed and the trilogy remark is very much a jokey one. Regarding Boba Fett, there's been no confirmation or denial, but rumours are that it has been pushed to 2020.

i just think too much was said for there not to be something in the works.

do you think there will be a X, XI, XII?

Most of the time McGregor is asked about playing Obi-Wan again it's almost like he's trying to spread the rumours himself to try and get a spin off made. A little fuelling of the flames.

With the immediate success of TFA and general massive popularity of Star Wars, another trilogy would not surprise me. The danger is that it becomes overkill because of how many movies are planned already.
