Star Wars - How much is too much?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Star Wars. I like the original movies, enjoyed The Force Awakens, and am looking forward to SWL, but I still wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of the franchise. With at least 5 more films on the way, all of the currently existing Star Wars attractions in DHS, as well as the ones to come, I can't help but feel like it's going to get old after a while. I might not feel this way when the films actually come out and the land is built, but at the moment, it all just seems like a bit much to me. What do you think?

You're asking this question on a site full of middle-aged man children?

I think Star Wars Land at DHS will be plenty for that park. I could see smaller additions in MK and Epcot. Something like C3-PO and R2-D2 hosting a show about robotics in Innoventions. Or something Star Wars replacing Stitch. I think DAK already has too much space fantasy stuff.

As a fan, I'd welcome more presence in the parks. I'd like to be able to get to SW events but havent been able to be there for them. Saying that, I am disappointed that Disney it seems has lost its own studios, power, creativity and is relying on others.

I kind of agree with the OP that it might be too much, but it really depends on the quality of the final product. If the theming is top notch, immersive and detailed, I'm sure it will be great. I was skeptical of Cars Land in DCA for the same reasons, but is now one of my favorite areas.

If Avatar is getting a land, Star Wars most certainly deserves one. Come to think of it...since Avatar is getting a land there are many titles that I can think of that deserve a land.

If you don't like a certain Disney IP, just stay away from any attractions that are centered around it.
I never said that I didn't like the IP, I'm just not completely enamored with it like many other people here are. When I said that I'm not a huge fan, I really just meant that I'm not a diehard or anything. I do like the movies and am looking forward to Rogue One and Episode VIII as well as SWL, but at the same time, I don't want it to be shoved down my throat.

Also, I don't agree with you about the "just stay away if you don't like the IP" thing. If you go to DHS, it is pretty hard to avoid. I wasn't particularly bothered by it when I went last summer, but it did kind of feel like a lot to me, but it's going to be nothing in comparison to when SWL opens and I can only imagine how someone who doesn't enjoy the franchise is going to feel.

Cars has a land. Cars. On a planet in which Cars has a theme park land, Star Wars should have an entire city the size of Cleveland.

Separately, what do you mean "all the attractions currently at DHS"? There's one legit attraction (that might be going away when SWL opens) and several temporary attractions (that are almost certainly going away when SWL opens).
I never said that Star Wars doesn't deserve a huge land of its own, of course it does. I seem to have been misunderstood by a few people on that, Star Wars definitely deserves it and I'm very much looking forward to the new attractions. As for the thing about the attractions currently in DHS, yeah, that's fair. I was just thinking about what is currently there, what's to come, as well as the nonstop film hype over the next few years, and with all of that combined, it does seem like quite a lot (even though, as you said, some of the current attractions are just temporary). Also, like I said, I might not feel this way at all when the land is actually built, and as of right now I'm just hoping that it's really well done.

As you can probably tell from my username, I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so as far as I'm concerned there's no such thing as too much Star Wars. (Same with Potter over at Universal).

However, I can understand how frustrating it is to have a lot of something that you're not too keen on and having it feel like it's being "shoved down your throat". I can't stand Frozen at all and so the last two summers at DHS weren't that great for me but I just did other non-Frozen related stuff instead because it was easily avoidable, which is the same case with Star Wars stuff that's at DHS now. They're never going to please everyone unfortunately. Star Wars is where the money's at atm so expect to see a lot of it. The last two years at DHS it was 'Frozen Summer Fun' and this year's theme is 'Summer Awakens'. That's just how it is.

An Ewok Village would be too much...I remember when Jedi was out the whole Ewok hoopla back then...that would be too much.

I've been exceedingly "meh" on everything after the first 3 films but they seem popular. So as long as it's all contained in one land and doesn't leach into the fabric of the parks, go wild.

Now if it was Star TREK on the other hand, the more the merrier :D

Disney wrote a very large check to George Lucas for the privilege of expanding and monetizing the brand. So far, I don't think they are regretting the investment. It's a true generation-spanning brand that fits in nicely with Disney, Pixar and Marvel.

I feel like its a valid concern. I'm a huge fan of comics but in recent years the over saturation of Marvel and DC stuff has begun to spoil it for me. I have an even larger fascination with Star Wars. It rivals my Disney fandom and occasionally pushes into the lead. I'm extremely excited about all the new attractions, films, series, and comics that come along with sort of thing. I just hope it doesn't get slightly tainted for me. Part of the fun is the waiting and speculating about upcoming projects. A lot of the concern also stems from worry that we will have a drop in quality. The law of averages would lead you to believe that eventually something will flop and be a disaster. Hopefully I'm worrying for nothing and the luster never fades. So far so good. I hope it just keeps getting better and better.
