Alien encounter is one attraction that really should be brought back from yesterland. It was such a mistake not to go ahead with the plans of putting it in tomorrowland but if they feel that it doesn't being there then that attraction would be a perfect addition to DCA within the Marvel area. It was one attraction that had an effective way of entertaining. Would be a hit with a whole new generation of Disneyland goers that never got to experience it.

I'm actually surprised they havent considered it for Hong Kong It would be well received especially since they do such a great job with their Halloween events
The WDW Mommies said it was too scary so no can do.

With attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Tours, Snow White's Scary Adventures, and Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland and Tower of Terror just across the esplanade, Alien Encounter would fit in far better at Disneyland tonally than it ever did in Magic Kingdom where the scariest attraction is the Haunted Mansion.

The only reason the Haunted Mansion still exists is because it was watered down with goofy CG ghosts and a playground.

A guardians of the galaxy version would ahve been cool too. It's the kind of ride system/experience that would be a home run for IP integration rather than watered down (minus the route they actually took).

Alien Encounter was never scary. It was just gross.

GMR offered almost none of that. It literally felt like you were walking through static sets and mannequins for 90% of it.

meh... the big difference was the lack of continuity... which meant you had moving, setup, and reveal for each scene.. leading to a lot more 'dead time' compared to something like pirates which has bridge scenes as you move between the main scenes.

ESPN runs an annual auction to benefit the V Foundation. This year the auction includes an opportunity to attend the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. If you notice though it says at Disney World. What are the chances the winner doesn't realize it opens at Disneyland first?

Current bid is over $16,000

The small print says "Vacation must be taken between 1/1/2020 and 12/15/2020" so it isn't necessarily the opening of GE

It doesn't say anything about Grand Opening. So isn't anytime within 3-6 months of opening still considered the "opening" period.

"The estimated retail value of the vacation package is US $13,619.92. " so it isn't crazy out of line. And it's tax deductible since its for charity.

This is what it includes, which can get up there:

This experience gives you (1) vacation package for you and (3) guests for five (5) nights and six (6) days at the Walt Disney World Resort, including:
  • Four (4) round trip coach airfares
  • Four (4) round trip ground transfers between the Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World Resort via Disney’s Magical Express Service
  • Room accommodations consisting of one (1) one-bedroom suite or villa (with a maximum of four (4) persons per room) for five (5) nights at a hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort selected by Disney in its sole discretion; based on availability.
  • Four (4) 6-Day Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper and Water Parks Fun & More Option.
  • One (1) Disney Gift Card with a value of $2,000.00 (subject to restrictions).
  • Services of one (1) Disney VIP Tour Guide for eight (8) hours for each day of vacation
  • One (1) Memory Maker Product which includes unlimited Disney PhotoPass® service photos (including those taken at select attractions and dining locations).
  • One (1) Disney Character Meet and Greet with photo opportunity
  • One (1) Disney Character Dining experience for four (4) persons. Subject to availability. A Disney Gift Card will be provided to cover the expense of this experience. Subject to restrictions.
The $2000 gift card, plus character dining gift card, and 6 days of VIP tour guide is what is causing the value to be over $13k. Isn't the VIP tour guide alone over $13k for 6 days?

They may be, remember it says:

I guess it depends on your definition of suite..... ;):p:cool:

this Saturday i decided to drive thru the backside of the construction site and was amazed at how huge this project looks now. Those rock formations that are done and now all the new steel that went up on top of the buildings is quite amazing.
Pictures do not do it justice.
