Would they have executed it any differently if it were Tatooine?
It would have checked one major box. Give the
Customers what they want. STAR WARS. This has been a constant mistake of Disney for years going back to Epcot and DCA. Not giving customers what they paid to see. So they will grudgingly wait a few years and then concede they made an error.

You really think they’ll tear down Galaxy’s Edge in a few years and replace it with Discovery’s Bay?

Didn’t I already tell you the easiest way to fix it?

1. Repaint it white. White wash the whole thing like Tatooine.
2. Build Luke’s underground home on the trail from Critter Country.
3. Remake MF in Empire era. Add Han and Chewbacca animatronics in MF queue line. Change the locations they are traveling.
4. Cantina is now in Mos Eisley. Remove the Star Tours animatronic. Add music with alien animatronics.
5. Add Jawas, Sand Scrawler, and Sand People.
6. A Naboo or Coruscant building in the vista will help.

Star Wars needs to be Original Trilogy with a little prequel. A Jedi Council will juice light saber sales. Jedi Temple is on Coruscant.

None of those fix the land’s problems.

I haven’t seen any Star Wars movie in a few years, but wasn’t Tatooine always supposed to be this terrible place that was boring at best, and death and dismay brought around by the worst criminals in the galaxy at worst (Not to say Rocktuu is meant to be any.. better, it’s pretty much Tatooine without any of the excitement or desert).

Wouldn’t making Tatooine “Star Wars Land” be like having the Dursley house be the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter”?

Which explains why Batuu has the Cantina, the space port with Millennium Falcon, blue milk, the selling of droids, and the similar styled middle eastern bazaar, which was all inspired by Tatooine. If they didn’t want it to be so boring, they would have opened Galaxy’s Edge with Rise of Resistance instead of boring Batuu that has no Star Wars story.

Dursley house is actually only a portion of Harry Potter’s origin story. The Express was accessed at Kings Cross platform 9 3/4. Really boring right? Except it was actually created in Universal Orlando. It certainly would be interesting to see Dursley house especially with the owls delivering packages. So apparently drawing this parallel is lame and the second time someone brought it up today. Try one more time.

You never did answer why your name is BB8 if you don't like the ST.

Since we’re talking about Harry Potter, if Disney did an attraction land, it would be about the alternate universe Harry Potter at Pigshead and Pigsfeet Castle. Look at the potential says Iger. We can create everything new and they’ll buy it

A mind is indeed powerful.

Article showing changes:

More then just paint, some construction differences. Different textures, noticed some lights placed differently.

I think I prefer Disneyland’s tbh.

Batuu IS Star Wars. We've been through this. The problem isn't the location, it is the execution.

But they are not mutually exclusive. The B.S. backstory you described means nothing if they didn't execute it in the land itself.

The backstory is what I gathered from the land itself. They executed that story with the design of the land. However it just feels like an empty set because the land is missing actors. I can walk around on the Universal backlot and be in love with the stories the sets invoke, but without performers helping to make these locations come alive, it just seems like a postcard.
