Guys, my point is just that the land is set during the sequel trilogy and Star Tours is using the Starspeeder 3000 after the events of Return of the Jedi. Seeing as Rex is in the land, the original Star Tours storyline is within the land's canon. Therefore the Starspeeder 3000 should be the Starspeeder present in the Falcon ride and not the 1000. I'm being a nerd, I know, but this is the standard they've set for themselves. Also the 3000 is just a way cooler looking transport.
Actually, the original Star Tours is not canon. Rex was brought into canon like Thrawn was, just bringing the character over and creating new stories for them, not everything around them. Star Tours is as canon as the original Thrawn Trilogy. The canon backstory for him in the land is "basically R3X flunked his way out of Star Tours. In the battle of Jakku, in a very epic chase, he crash-landed on Batuu... where he's repaired and turned into a DJ for the cantina." It seems somewhat unclear, but he may have appeared on Star Wars Rebels but there doesn't seem to be anything really linking them apart from an article just stating they're the same without sources.

"Each part of the hilt is going to make a lightsabre that is as unique and as extraordinary as every one of you"

"The jedi code is based on selflessness, and I think that that is such a thing that the world is lacking, so I think it's really important that my kids learn the importance of what it is to really reach out and help people, no matter who they are"

Man, if I don't buy one of these $200 lightsabres, I'm like, the scum of the earth...

The stories are yet to be told so maybe you should investigate before leaping while riding the big hunk of junk Millennium Falcon that appeared in two trilogies.

Star Tours is canon.

The original storyline of Star Tours is not canon. The Star Tours travel agency and RX series droids have been brought back into canon, but the original Star Tours story is not canon.

I also don't understand your Star Speeder 1000 vs 3000 gripe. The Falcon itself is just as old as the Star Speeder 1000. There's no reason why the 1000 series can't still be in use.

I've watched almost every video on Galaxy's Edge posted since 6pm yesterday and this one shows it all the best. While it's not inside any of the shops I'll still mark it as spoiler

And a standalone set 9-10 years before the first trilogy.
This is why I’m not excited about Galaxy’s Edge. There’s no assurance any of this will be portrayed in the movies. The original and prequels were the only well made and well received movies by George Lucas. Many iconic scenes and places were completely ignored. I’d rather they focus on the Galactic Empire and not the ridiculous First Order.

My chance to walk on Death Star and see Luke Skywalker’s Tatoonie home is forever scuttled.

Uh, what? Its amazing how history gets rewritten lol. At the time, the prequels were considered an abomination by most hardcore fans and even today just slightly better seen now but only slightly. TPM had its 20th anniversary less than two weeks ago and it basically came and went with little fanfare outside of hardcore Star War and genre sites acknowledging it. The prequels is what made fans look at Lucas from a God to the devil.

I don’t think history is rewritten. Prequels were never as good as the original trilogy, but they never had worse reaction from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi that made everyone say Star Wars is dead. Many fans continue to support prequel merchandise whereas the sequel trilogy completely fell flat and went into the clearance rack.

Lucas is not the devil. That’s Rian Johnson.

You also selectively bolded my comments like Tror. The first 6 movies are a good cinematic achievement.

The prequels are garbage and we’re way worse received than the sequels. Stop smoking your hookah.

WHAT? You're rewriting history as we speak lol. TFA was a WELL received movie. Go to Rotten Tomatoes. Critic score is at 92% and audience score at 87%. Yes TLJ was definitely divided by fans but critics loved it. Whats crazy is TLJ is the best reviewed film of 2017. TFA was the best reviewed film of 2015. And you're forgetting the spin off prequels Rogue One and Solo too. BOTH of those has higher audience ratings and critic ratings than the prequels. Rogue One has both critic and audience ratings in the 80s. Solo is the worst reviewed movies out of all the Disney films for sure though with a critic rating of 70% and an audience rating of 64%. But whats crazy its critic and audience ratings are still higher than both TPM and AOTC. In fact all the prequel audience ratings are only in the 50s and 60s.

So where are you basing this 'reaction' from exactly?

The prequels are still easily the lowest rated films in the saga, bar none. Disney actually has literally some of the highest. Thats why its this weird disconnect the Disney films are 'failing' but yet when you get beyond the hardcore fans they are a huge hit with the general audience.

Its the same issue with the Star Tours discussion I had earlier, people seem to think their personal hate of something is a consensus with the rest of the fanbase. It isn't. You can certainly hate it personally but don't pretend like you speak for the majority.

If anyone is interested Tim Tracker is actually doing a live stream of GE.

Edit: The live streaming is over but you can still view the video of course:

I really love this guys videos. He (almost) convinced me to go back to WDW this year after not seeing it for over a decade.

Just like all the updates we've enjoyed on TSMM (*snark), there are plans for Smuggler's Run to have special seasonal holiday versions, like Christmas, Halloween and Secretaries Day.

They are doing a great job updating Star Tours though. Of course its to help promote the new movies (and even GE) but it does prove they are finally keeping their word to updating the ride which, ironically, they had promised to do when it first opened in 1987. But the technology today just makes it a lot easier. I can see SR getting similar updates in the future as well. But it probably doesn't need one for a few years at least.

Right and being that Falcon is a video game, I don’t see any reason for Star Tours to go anywhere even after a major TL redo. Can’t see what they ll put in that tiny footprint that will be more popular than Star Tours long term.
