StarWars.com is pushing the upcoming Galaxy's Edge comic. Sounds interesting.

Marvel’s upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge series will take us inside the infamous outpost. The comic, which ties to the upcoming Star Wars-themed land of the same name, sounds like an essential read for those excited about visiting. “It’s a five-issue series,” said Matt Martin, “and it will introduce you to Dok-Ondar, who is the antiquarian at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.” The book will show how Dok-Ondar came into possession of some of the artifacts we’ll soon see for ourselves, in person. But one item might not be safe. “There is a criminal gang out to plot a heist for a very specific object there,” Ethan Sacks teased.

Black Spire Outpost, as it appears in the comic, is impossibly accurate to its real-world inspiration. While showing a spread of the Star Wars-themed land in the comic, Sacks said the creative team worked with the Lucasfilm Story Group and Walt Disney Imagineering to get it right. “A lot of what you see — the settings and the people, are straight out of the park. It’s very authentic.”

But OMG it's not in a movie! This isn't canon!

And yes I fully expect in 5-10 years an update will happen and a new story will be introduced into the land, maybe even with new AAs for RotR.

If you go by Disney's past, if they ever update it will take a couple decades, ala Star Tours. Even one that would be easier to do (TSMM) has had one game replaced to promote TS3. I thought they were going to do Halloween and Christmas themed games for this ride.

We'll have to see, but this is one thing I took from the Parks panel at Celebration. So I expect things will change over time with the land. Maybe not a full on refresh but things will change with the story.

Ok so after seeing pictures of the Driod Depot and the Lightsabers I can 100% confirm that I will be spending all of my money here.

They limited the entirety of Star Wars Land when they chose to make it from "The Last Jedi" and on. Definitely a limitaiton if you ask me as Luke, Han, and Vader are not around anymore and instead of the "Rebellion" and "Empire" you have the "Resistance" and "First Order". The new "planet" should have been a hub for all things Star Wars.
This is where I think your missing the whole point. This is the hub for all things Star Wars. There will be references to things from different eras in the shops. So you may recognize something from Clone Wars for example. Or something from New Hope, or from Empire, or even something from the new movies or books. There will be Easter Eggs from all time periods in the land.

Its just that the story they chose to tell with you at the center of this adventure is set in a specific time line, and is moving forward in time not back. So if you're disappointed and upset that you won't be riding a speeder on Endor with Luke, well then maybe this land isn't for you.

This is from a book review of Pirate's Price on LaughingPlace, if you're looking for backstory of Batuu:

But many adult Star Wars fans who pick up this book– myself included– will be most interested in analyzing the abundance of new tidbits we get about the inner workings of Oga’s Cantina, the surrounding Black Spire Outpost, and Batuu in general, with all likelihood being that these are nods to what we can expect when we finally get the chance to step through the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There are some good details presented here (the hilt of an old lightsaber being used as a bar tap being a highlight) but mostly this novel gives a good idea of the overall hustle and bustle of Batuu, and the feeling one might have just hanging out and breathing in the city’s atmosphere.

Not to spoil too much, but the story does end with a direct setup for the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction at Galaxy’s Edge, and Pirate’s Price will become a good resource for anyone walking out of that experience this summer and wanting more information about its in-universe backstory. And maybe the product placement for a drink called the Carbon Freeze may earn Disney a few more dollars this year.

While an easteregg sounds cool I was hoping that this land would be the new place to meet and encounter all the Star Wars characters. I think it would be so cool to be walking in a shop and you turn around and see Boba Fett behind you trying to scope out someone. There are so many possibilities and characters from the entire series to pull from, and my initial idea of the land was that it was for all Star Wars eras. However, this is not the case. I hope the decision can be changed. It seems silly that Vader will be restricted to the launch bay but characters like Ren have their own land.
Except that is the problem they are trying to prevent, why would you have characters from the new movies interacting with characters from PT or OT who are suppose to be long dead. This isn't some land where time doesn't exist, or where some fan wrote fanfiction where Vader travels back in time to before the Order 66 event and tries to prevent Padme from dying, nor should it.

Also Launch Bay is eventually going, and I doubt they will move Vader to SW:GE for a M&G. So I don't know what will happen to Vader once that happens.

And this is why the "land for all eras of Star Wars" narrative Disney presents doesn't exist IMO. It is clearly tailored to only promote their current cinematic offerings.

I can see why you're saying that. But the thing is, even the current cinematic offerings are designed to let things from earlier eras make appearances. (Wrecked AT-ATs, etc.)

You can have Luke's model of land speeder parked in Batuu. You can have Amidala's headress for sale in Batuu. You can't sell a Kylo Ren lightsaber if the land's story was set during a previous trilogy.
