My money is on Rise of the Resistance being the more popular. I think it'll appeal to a broader audience- specifically people who don't want to play a video game at Disneyland, or those who can't handle simulators cause of motion sickness.

...well, as far as motion sickness goes, there is a 2-story elevator ride UP, by the AT-AT walkers and then a "Tower of Terror" drop at the end as your escape pod crashes back to Batuu.

...most people think they want to "drive the Falcon" because that's their lifelong dream or something to that effect, and honestly, I was in that thinking UNTIL I learned about everything involved in RotR. I will always suggest to anyone who will listen, let everyone run for the Falcon, you go get in the RotR line. That is the star of the show.

That’s the one I’ll run for the first time while I MaxPass an FP for Falcon. However, there is a case to be made for doing it in reverse and building up to the better attraction. Another factor is how the Queues are set up. I’m pretty sure FPs for either attraction will merge before any preshow but one factor could be which queue is more fun to stand in line in.

There are many people who are sensitive to motion simulators like Star Tours- where your motion is artificially synced to a video, vs a physical experience where you can see real surroundings. This is caused when the motion the person experiences differs from what the person is seeing and what they subconsciously think they should be doing.

These people aren't as effected in physical, tangible experiences.

I used to think that Disney would never cut any quality pre-show from a Fastpass experience, but then Flight of Passage skipped the laboratory. We'll have to see what happens to Star Wars.

In a different sort of sense where it just looked and felt incredibly old.

Video media attractions do need updates anyways every 10-15 years unless it's incredibly cutting edge at the time of release and maybe it pushes 20. That's its downfall.

I don't expect the Millennium Falcon attraction to be any different. The tech they are using is probably 5 years away from high end home PC's and another generation or two of consoles out. Really it should and will probably have new flight experiences within a decade anyways, at which time they'll need to update all the hardware.
Actually the ride is based on PC technology right now. Each pod is using 8 NVIDA Quadro P6000 GPU cards running in parallel and an updated version of the Unreal Engine. Those cards can be bought off the net right now for $4500-$6500 each. They all work together to calculate the images in real time. It will be a few more generations of consoles before even one of those GPUs are used let alone eight in parallel. Nice thing is they can be swapped out for even higher end cards and more memory. Just one of these things makes a XBox One X look like an Atari 2600.

** THIS JUST IN ** - Just found out Rey's Speeder from TFA will be at Batuu! - from my DL source.
As you are waiting in the queue line for "bird" (Smuggler's Run) there is an open door/vent and you see her speeder inside.
I don't believe you can go into the room, but it part of the "scenery" of the queue.
Now we get to wonder why her speeder is there. (Maybe there are more like it in the SW universe?)
(somewhere in the circled area of this image)

My source is marking up a google maps overlay with the queue line, etc for me.
I'll share when I get it back...

All of those things can easily be added to the simulation. It's just a checkbox to get any weather and wind conditions you want. You can even filter with windshield damage. I guess you could get a fan for real wind in your face. Some of the control rigs are amazing.

Well, you’re trying very hard to miss the point I was making. I said a realistic presentation won’t necessarily have a pristine view so the ride would still be convincing despite technology limitations.

I think Rise will be more difficult to get into because it will break down more. Falcon's line will slow if there's an issue, but it will share the blessing/curse of the Flight of Passage crawl if one or more turntables dies. Barring an emergency, it should never *fully* go down.

Also, if the 4 extra ADA pods are real, then Falcon's capacity is a little higher than previously expected, and load can be more consistently efficient in the 'standard' pods.

I'll be interested to compare wait times for the rides coast to coast, not only because they're in vastly different parks, but because the ideal entry point for DHS puts you right in front of RotR, while Disneyland's takes you to Falcon.

Sorry, I meant "affordable" when I said it was five years away from the home PC market.

Why would Disney put in "affordable" GPUs in to their premier ride? Even affordable GPUs are around $600 or so give amazing graphics.
Not to put words in someone else's mouth but I think the point they were raising is that in 5 years the average consumer would be able to mach the graphics cabability of this ride because the price with become more affordable. So if Disney is not consistently updating the graphics for the ride with both hardware and software a visitor in 2024 might say "wow this ride is pretty lame it has the same graphics as my computer at home".
