I just came back from Disneyland and California Adventure two days ago for bday.
I heard from a cast member( it may or may not be true ) that they might open Batuu in disneyland in June.

First, stop believing what front-line CMs tell you. As has been said here before, they know very little if any of the actual inside information. :)

Second, basically it could open anytime between April/May - August, but hasn't been confirmed yet. However a good bet is sometime between Memorial weekend (a target they have been aiming for but appears have slipped) and end of June. With all but the Signature AP blocked out starting the end of June that was a good indication of opening. However I'm still hoping for Memorial weekend.

I agree with all what you’re saying, but I think Disney will open this up at the end of June to have as much time for an adjusting period, whether that be AP previews, payed events, or Cast Member previews. Having Deluxe Passes unblocked also would likely cause the parks to be even busier than they already will be because it seems to be the most popular pass.

Could be, we’ll see in 6 months.

Although I have a feeling Disney will be announcing the opening day by end of Feb or beginning of Mar.

That is why I said may or may not in brackets. I guess you didn't see that.

But really does it need to be done at all if you can only see it by a camara lens zoomed in from the far end of the river on the MT. I mean really why spend more money on something that, A. we're talking about a sliver of an open area that most guest won't see or even notice and B. in a year when trees grow out they won't even be able to see anyways.

If it wasn't for all the Tubers and fansites taking pictures and making a big deal about it, no one would even notice it anyways.

no it doesn't need to be done, I wrote my post in response to someone asking about those areas. I personally don't really see it as much of a problem but it is not just visible by lens. It is actually visible from the mark twain when riding on the upper decks. It does throw off the illusion of it being real rock formations when you are able to see the supports from the boat. fixing it would give the site line and imporvement

I haven’t see it personally so I’d have to take your word for it. But if it’s still the only place you can see it, then it’s no different than any of the other sight line issues at DLR.

The gap is actually visible, from ground level, within the park. I honestly don’t believe it’s that big of an issue, but why spend millions on phenomenal rock work that creates an illusion of depth, only for it to be ruined by gaps of less than multiple feet between them.

Because again in a year from now the trees will likely be blocking the view of the gap.

What's sad and disappointing is how many non-SW people out there I see all excited about visiting "Star Wars Land" in Florida when it opens next Summer. Think about what I just typed.

(1) They are calling it SWL. - This may never change.
(2) They only think its in 1 park
(3) They think its opening this Summer in Florida.

I've been correcting them till my fingers bleed but its a small drop in the bucket. Disney better get to showing the difference in a much better way. Yes, WE know the difference but the average Disney goer has it all wrong.

I feel badly for some of them because they are planing big vacations around the opening but they have the facts all wrong.

People still call hogsmeade Harry Potter..... no one cares
99% of the people talking about it aren’t going to travel in the time period where the opening dates differ.. so again it really doesn’t matter if people have it wrong. It’s a problem that will disappear as soon as the parks are open
99% of the people who say they are going for the opening are full of it

Facebook is full of people who type before they think.... so there is no point in trying to fix them

They really wouldn't need to spend that much money. It would be just as easy to add a small piece of wall or chicken wire and paint it a darker brown to show depth. The amount of detail put on the visible rockwork in front of it doesn't need to be applied to those pieces further back.

Brown tarp.

Or strobe lights pointing in the eyes of anyone with that point of view.

My point was why spend all the money on the rock work as a whole, only to miss a few feet in the back that breaks the illusion of depth, as it seems it would be a relatively cheap thing to patch up. We’ll just have to wait and see :geek:

What some of us, myself included, have been trying to say is that everyone is hyper-focused on something that is likely not going to be an issue a year from now, so it doesn't matter how much money they spent. And for me personally if it does happen to still exist it'll be no different than other sight line issues in a park famous for sight line issues. :)

Yep. That’s why I said it’s not a big issue. Just brought it up as it was said earlier that it’s only visible from the MT with a zoomed in camera lens, which isn’t true. But I don’t think it’s something that can be dismissed so quickly, as the mountains and the facade are an integral part of the land. If it isn’t fixed though, it’s not a big issue.
