I noticed the scale is a little off in that side-by-side, so I went ahead and fixed it:

In all seriousness, it’s interesting to see how Florida seemed to be ahead on outpost buildings until around last month. Of course, seeing as Disneyland’s SWGE opens sooner, that was bound to happen at some point. And now, Florida’s ahead on something again, this time with ships.

I think that ship was placed there because it is visible from Toy story land, and they wanted to tease. They could have worked on anything and they just so happened to plant a fully constructed, paited, and theme aged ship above ground level. I wouldn't read more than that into it.

I also noticed dhs's has more alien/highly saturated colors. the main petrified trees are an icy blue. Anaheim's is more realistic looking as far as the spires visible outside of the land are concerned. Maybe anaheim's will make up for it at ground level? Or they'll more likely match? interesting.

Wow, thank you! That's exactly the type of side-by-side image I've been waiting for! This project is fascinating the way it differs along the perimeter and the entry portals. And as these types of aerial comparisons get closer together, and eventually lead to a direct overlay option, we'll see more and more how Disneyland's version has more room and better opening act entrance portals to work with compared to the DHS version that was shoehorned in to that park after the concept was designed for Disneyland.

I look at it as DLR:SW has a lot more "set dressing" to do in order to blend in with the surrounding FrontierLand. So its taken a bit longer to get those rock exteriors done. But now that a majority of that is done, they've quickly moved onto the rest. Look how quickly the "village" outpost area progressed in just a month.

If it was me, since its fairly well hidden, the ships would be the last thing I'd put into DLR:SW. DHS:SW doesn't have the blessing of being that hidden, so it more exposed.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that's just because the rocks aren't done, and that the two will match when the painting. This is what Disneyland's spires looked like in mid-May, when they were in the process of being colored:

That image clearly shows the WDW version is much larger.

It’s completely contingent on what they do with mid section of the berm. If they mimic the DL layout for that section and just backfill it with lots of trees, it is indeed technically smaller, albeit with more future potential space. Mostly due to critter country/grand avenue entrance discrepancies.

Nothing leads me to believe they have a plan right now to utilize the space as they couldn’t even be bothered to pay for design work for a second entrance tunnel.

Not sure which is attraction 1 or 2, but BLDG 10040 and BLDG 10030 are the two attractions. Here are some descriptions related to work on those buildings.

that area will be the new expansion pad for the Toy Story / Star Wars crossover transition section coming soon to DHS. Soon a giant Buzz and Mr Potato head will meet guests as they enter the area and prepare themselves to face the evil empire.
