According to the Solo movie there was fuel crisis. That was why they had to steal the fuel rods from Kessel. Never the less, trains are part of the Star Wars canon because of Solo. We even saw trains in Shadows of the Empire. Also the train was being used to move fuel rods in a place where space ships really can't fly very well without extreme risk. Just because you have one form of transportation doesn't mean it ceases to be useful in certain conditions.

I liked this scene in the movie, and I would agree that a coaster ride could be themed off of it - it would break the timeline, but hey - maybe the train still exists?
They could make a really good ride from it too.
But, again - the land and rides were designed well before this film.

Yep, that is why I said the same thing three pages ago.... ;):p:cool:

I'm just arguing that it is possible to have a themed Star Wars roller coaster. I don't care the land is designed and built.

Right, just like there wouldn’t be flood lights in a Caribbean town, nor exit signs in the middle of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. I get what you’re saying, but at some point, the practical limitations of building a physical ride will require a smidge of suspension of disbelief.

That’s my point. People are going overboard with the Coaster wouldn’t work for Star Wars because you can see a track.

Seeing bare supports, such as with Tron, is a far bigger problem than seeing a track. You can see the track on the Matterhorn and it doesn't take me out of the attraction. Seeing exposed beams and columns, however, does.

I think thats the problem i have with the slinky coaster more than the tron coaster. How difficult or expensive would it have been to add fiberglass covers on those supports to look like blocks. It would have added quite a bit to the theming.

You want Disney to build a coaster based on that massive train? And that's not even bringing up the issue of basing an attraction on Star Wars' first bomb and a concept that doesn't make sense in the Star Wars Universe. If spaceships are so common and can land just about anywhere, why build a rail system through mountains?

Why not? They built a Star Wars ride out of a tour bus. A train isn’t that far-fetched.

Spaceships can’t haul all that, silly.

Where's there a tour bus Star Wars ride?? I also just don't see Disney ever being able to reach that scale. Mine trains are tiny to get into small areas and because they weren't for public transportation. Gringotts has cars meant for a small group going to a vault. That train was pretty massive. We can't even get a life-sized AT-AT in SWGE, I don't see them putting in a coaster with a train bigger than a real train. Even if they scaled it down, it would be like watching the Disneyland Railroad on a coaster track. I don't ever foresee a coaster that massive in scale. Especially not in California.

Star Tours is basically a tour bus.

They wouldn’t have to build the whole train. Just a section of it. Maybe put a motion base under it like Kong in USF.

Star Tours is a transport to another planet, not a tour bus. Its like an airport/travel agency providing excursions to tourist destinations, but the ride vehicle is just a shuttle. And if the train was a motion based car, that wouldn't be a coaster. And Kong at USF is trash.

The original Star Tours was a transport but Adventures Continue is a tour. Why else would there be a drone camera on board to show off sights?

Coasters can have motion bases.

They surely could have made it more elaborately themed, but Slinky Dog Dash is actually a rare case where the exposed supports fit into the attraction's storyline. Namely, being a toy coaster kit assembled by Andy.

I do not believe, even for a second, that they went into the blue sky stage with the idea of a bare bones roller coaster themed to a toy roller coaster kit. It 100% feels like a cop out excuse because they didn't have enough of a budget.

The ride is clearly still a transport. You go through airport security, board the craft, and at the end C3PO says he hopes we enjoyed our flight. When I buy a tour of a foreign country, the tour company doesn't fly me out and then fly the same craft around as the tour.

And I've never seen a coaster with a giant motion-based car like Kong. The closest I've seen is Gringotts and Forbidden Journey and those are both small scale.

The new Kong might be trash, but the original was one of the best ever.

Star Tours has to be a transport, but it does raise the question of why you end up back in Tomorrowland. The scenes end on Coruscant, Naboo etc, so why are we exiting on the same planet we boarded? It's just too disorienting.

The new version is definitely a tour bus. The fact you think it's an airport just shows how horribly designed the new version is.
