I'm probably dating myself, but this is my first thought when I someone talking about the HSM soundtrack

(And now I have it stuck in my head. Thanks.)
If High School Musical is considered dating yourself, I must be a fossil.

Then again, I was only 11..

Why is Star Wars Nite on May the 3rd instead of May the 4th? Dumb decision by Disney. The Star Wars firework show going on right now is probably what we'll see next summer. SW Nite isn't even the biggest thing going on. In Anaheim tonight, though. Anyone else watching Pujols go for 3,000 hits?
Didn’t it startMay 3 at night and roll over to May 4th?

I thought i saw people counting down on videos to midnight and celebrating the change from the 3rd to the 4th

It’s interesting because part of what makes classic space mountain great is that doesn’t have a lot going on and that it lets the soundtrack and the darkness do the job yet I can’t help but enjoy the energy that HSM brings.

I guess it really depends which version of space mountain is considered the classic.
Originally the mountain wasn’t fully dark. The dome had windows that allowed enough light inside to be able to see the tracks.
The windows allowed guests in the queue to see I to the dome and see the cars speed by

I can’t seem to remember if there was windows that also allowed the guests of the peoplemover to see I side as well.

Is this really news though? Did anyone expect this to only be for one or two party nights? Disney would never give actual value to one of these extra parties like this that people have to buy an extra ticket to attend, even if they already had a ticket for that day or an AP for the entire year. Or am I missing a joke?

Well the event wasn’t just about HSM.
Seen pictures of someone that went to it and it looks like they went all out with lots and lots of actual huge props for photo ops, a mini parade with dozens of characters.
Lots of spontaneous battles and character interactions lots of droids moving around the place
And a fireworks show.
Add to that the shirt lines on everything Including the HSM

Yeah I was young but I remember that version. Well obviously right now “Classic” Space Mountain is the one not called Ghost Galaxy or Hyper Space Mountain. Classic to me, at this point means Space Mountain with no overlay.

Don’t forget the orange hexagonal satellite (which I called the Death Star as a child)!

They closed up the windows for the 2005 rebuild. It was to make it darker for the projections that were showed during the first few years it was open. They used the darkness issue as a reason to never turned on the asteroid. Then all the projections disappeared once ghost galaxy showed up. That version of Space Mountain was the best. It was even suppose to have a nighttime version called Rock'et Mountain but that didn't last long. Too bad Disney neutered it. I believe Hong Kong still has the original 2005 projections.

Same! I get that it’s fantastic technology and has been implemented to great effect, but it has its drawbacks too, these being them. Inclines and constant motion are two things that I think set IJA apart from Spider-Man and Transformers, to use examples of rides I’ve been on. I understand the novelty of trackless, I just don’t think it’s the second coming of the omnimover, EMV, or kuka arm.
They actually have a vehicle thats trackless and can climb up and down hills. It will show up somewhere I am sure. It was demo'd at the big theme park convention

Very true, that was an impressive demo. I should also point out that UOR’s Kong has a trackless truck that climbs a small hill at the beginning of the ride.

Is it able to move continuously or does it have to stop for charging stations throughout the ride?
