Over at the WDW forum there is a rumor of a possible Indy boat ride going to DHS with Shanghai pirates tech. Which got me thinking I want some of that tech at DLR. Specifically the ride system. I know we ll be getting some cool new stuff with Battle Escape but I think a boat ride at DCA with Shanghai Pirates tech would be great for the park. The question is where would it go and what IP would it be based on?
I doubt anything Marvel related. Maybe replace Goofy's sky school with a Coco boat adventure? Hey, maybe a higher tech version of what was going to go in the Mexico pavilion!?
Yes! The thought had crossed my mind but then I thought that I’m not sure a boat ride is the best way to the tell the Coco story but why not. It could / would work.

Didn't you hear that the new Spider-Man attraction is going to be a boat ride.....

But seriously, I could see a Moana boat ride which makes more sense than Coco.

Haha.

Yea Moana makes more sense on paper. I just think Coco would make for a better ride. A darker dark ride if you will. I feel like Moana would have to be very bright, at least most of it. I think when you consider the tone of the movie, Coco would make for a better boat ride.

The only way I could see Coco work as a boat ride is if we as the guests are going down the River Styx. However that goes opposite to what the story states which is that the bridge between the living and dead is a literal bridge.

Watched Martin's video the other night for nostalgia purposes. Man, I miss that pavilion...

For years before EPCOT opened I had been salivating over this concept art, so you can imagine how excited I was to finally step foot in there a year or so after it finally opened.

Now that they've dumbed down the experience and stuck Nemo in there I'll pass.

I agree. Coco naturally lends itself to darkride lighting as well as a boat traveling through sets. Moana is bright and sunny and mostly takes place in the open ocean, a difficult feel to pull off on a dakride.

It is such a travesty how they've dumbed it down now...And how the SeaCabs were just boarded up and abandoned.
True story: I listen to the pavilions original soundtrack most nights before going to bed.

Don't worry. Star Wars:GE will be dumbed down the same way in about ten years in Florida.

Why just Florida? DLR has excelled in the Dumbing Down Department. Just look at The Nemo Subs, Winnie the Pooh in the American frontier, and Pixar Pier.

And then the argument of which SW:GE land is better will be finally settled. ;):p:hilarious:
My take? The land was CLEARLY designed for disneyland. Form language sensitive to rivers of america, the curviture of the land around the roa, and the rock wall facade to battle escape is meant to block out mickey and friends. It answers to all of disneylands complex site conditions and none of walt disney worlds (nonexistent) conditions. Knowing the land was designed with disneyland in mind will always make me feel like it is more at-home there.

I set out to write about how Florida might have the advantage of some special sunset lighting but really they’re just position differently and will have different natural lighting, with no clear winner, though again, I think disneyland wins. Florida’s pro is that the entire land is basically built along its eastern edge (though it is tilted northwestern facing), which could pick up some really nice sunsets. USH’s potter is also north facing, but its facade opens to the west so hogwarts gets good direct light during the afternoon/sunset. I imagine battle escape over there will be a little like this, but falcoln will be in the dark at all times except morning, with some edge lighting on the right side of tallest peaks at sunset . Disneyland's is south-facing and will always be front-lit, with alternating highlghts and shadows. battle escape being in shadow at sunset and millennium falcoln picking up some golden sun on its interior/left side. The storefronts at disneyland and the falcoln etc will all be able to be appreciated in direct sunlight, while orlando’s wont. This means disneylands wil be way easier to photograph and appreciate the details and colors and textures in, while walt disney worlds will spend more peak daylight in shadows, creating hard contrasts that some might think are moody and cool.

Wow I’ve never heard anyone bring up the lighting/ the lands position to the sun. Pretty good stuff.

I had in mind more along the lines of the free roaming droids and costume characters than overlays of the rides themselves. I wonder how many in queue features will be broken and never repaired within the first year of operation. Which park will keep Star Wars: GE closest condition to opening day?

Yeah I get where you were originally coming from and then I piggybacked of @Dr. Hans Reinhardts examples. I highly doubt either coast will keep up the level of guest interaction they re planning on opening day.

Unless its upcharge and fastpass/my magic +, so that every feature of the land has an operating income. Check out the way fantasmic’s viewing area went from free to organized and free to essentially half free and half reserved.
