Worst case scenario, Last Jedi is a dud (unlikely) and everything in this new era of Star Wars gets marked by the public as lame.
Now I saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it a lot despite its many flaws, but some people seem to have other feelings on the matter...

Its just a theme park. You can meet Darth Vader and Kylo Ren at the same time. You meet Darth Vader and Darth Maul at the same time in the Jedi Academy. Whats the difference?
It's a huge difference. They're spending hundreds of million on details. So, the major canon details must also be correct. I personally would have a cow if at SWGE they have both there. The "it's just a theme park" mentality degrades the medium.

The only saga film with a lower audience score is Attack of the Clones (57%). The Phantom Menace has a 59% audience score, tied with The Last Jedi. This movie is straight up being murdered by fans, and like I've said I have my problems, but I think a lot of this is because of people's expectations were based in nothing and the movie had no obligation to fill them. I'd love to get into a spoiler discussion in another thread once more people on here have seen the film.

Scores will fluctuate once more people see it. But as it stands, that huge of a discrepancy between critics and fans is slightly alarming. Especially with the higher score coming from the critics.

Just throwing it out there, but The Last Jedi's audience score has now dropped to 57%, tied with Attack of the Clones for lowest audience score for a Star Wars saga film. I don't expect it to go up.

Man - well, this is helping me temper my expectations. They were really sky high. Now I know to expect something that is divisive and that I might not like.

I'm still going in with an open mind. That's my number one problem with critics(and audiences) and sites like RT. We've conditioned ourselves to pre-judge a film based on what nameless others have thought and on no merit of the film itself.

If you go in expecting things you want to see happen happen, you'll be disappointed. That's all I say.
Good to know...especially since I really have no idea what I want to see happen. Except for some sweet saber battles and Luke Skywalker's metal hand.

oh...and Daisy :happy::happy::happy:

Well, when Empire first came out, the general reaction was, "...Hmm, good film, but not the fun breath of fresh air that the original movie was." Only as time passed has Empire become revered as a masterpiece.

I wonder if we'll see something similar here.

Just came out of seeing it. It has some small elements of TESB and ROTJ but for most of it went in a completely different multiple directions. Lots of twists and turns. If your expecting it be a rehash of those two movies especially in the third act you are very wrong. I don't think us older fans really know what to do with it. Everyone else will love it. All of the spoilers on the internet were wrong.

I saw a 1am showing of it and thought it was really good. Sure I had some notes on a couple scenes I thought should be changed. But overall thought it was a good addition to the saga.

For those that comment on the low score on rotten tomatoes, it will go up. Its just the early viewers, who like to see themselves as film critics. Everyone coming out of my theater was commenting on how good it was and were going to see it again.

I'm shocked the early audience reaction is so mixed. The theater I was in was enamored with the movie. That said internet reviews don't really matter the true audience ratting score will be how much money it makes.

We were pretty quiet when we came out of the theater. We saw the 8:30am showing and everyone ran for the restroom right after. It was a long movie.

I though the last minute with the kids was pure Disney marketing. "You can join the Rebellion too!"
