Ditto. I can't even really imaging my kids liking it much. Immersion shouldn't have to mean you're participating in some hokey skit. I have little to zero interest in something like this. I mean it would be funny seeing a Stormtrooper following my kids around because they were terrible pilots or something like that, but not if we have to stop and interact for any length of time. I envision a lot of awkward blank stares and then quietly walking away from my family. LOL

I thought about this during the presentation...
The idea would work better if it was its own park and there was more to do and you were going to spend your whole day there...but for a few hours? it will be interesting to see how it all works.

I think if it starts meaning a reward (or a fine) of galactic credits that you can use somewhere to trade, then it can become more than just a 30 second interaction with a Cast Member.

Heck, you and your account might even be able to continue living back in the real world, online!

I wonder what it will be like to have a "bounty" on your head and to get stopped by stormtroopers in the cantina or walking the streets...

And for some reason this popped into my head:

Sad thing is since this is set during the new movies, we won't see Darth Vader or Ben Kenobi or Yoda. We probably won't see much in the way of miscellaneous Jedi either.

Yes, but give it a couple of years. In time, you just know there's going to be a "Dark Side Halloween at Galaxy's Edge" and have Vader, the Emperor, Darth Maul and more show up in a cloud of fog...

I hope I'm there when the first tired, cranky, hot guest who doesn't want to be alive much less part of an immersive Star Wars story goes ballistic.
And thinking about it, I probably will be because there is a good chance this could be my husband. LOL

Bless his heart, he hates Disneyland but keeps going for me and the kids. Even makes a good effort to make the most of it. He doesn't HATE Disneyland, I suppose. But hates sun and crowds and "thrill" rides. Poor guy had a small panic attack on Luigi's cars last month. He put his head in my lap and closed his eyes until it was over, the CM was staring the whole time LOL

That's hilarious, and kudos to him for actually going along with you guys and not just deciding to stay in the hotel all day or something.

I feel like its relevant here to say that at the expo, I met the father/daughter team who make those in-depth SWL update videos that span months. They were just as nice and charming in person as they appear on video.

I also happened to pass the Fresh Baked yokels a few times and just went about my business.

I have no basis for my guesses other than my own convoluted logic, but I would think it would be opt-in rather than opt-out based. Mostly because I think they have to have some way to tag people, when I think about it I keep going back to some magic band like device with distance based reading in order to understand who is who and who wrecked the MF, etc.. I think they've clearly said Magic Bands are not coming to Disneyland though, right? Or were they just saying MDE wasn't ever going to come?

I assume it'll be some sort of device or app. I think maybe that Frontierland game back in the day was even an early test for the kinds of interactive stuff they'll utilize in Galaxy's Edge.

Perhaps it'll be some sort of device (like the interactive wands) that you purchase and then it makes your experience more immersive, and propels you right into the story??

It needs to be something that works without your interaction. If you walk into the cantina and scan your ticket that's way less believable than you walk in and the CMs just know you. It can't be like E.T. knowing your name after you entered it in.

But there has to be something... whether it's just a ring. Something that you purchase or get that transmits data.
