So, after reading MiceChat’s rumor for SWL a couple of times, I’m unclear on TDA’s plan. Is SWL going to be a separate upcharged ticket for its first few months, or are they going to do an extended round of upcharge parties and events before the land opens?

Considering it is a few months ahead of Disney World's Star Wars Land, they would be smart of have a month of paid preview events and then have the two open together.

Apart from a better transition in DL, the two SW Lands will be near identical. DHS will actually be more "encompassing" according to @tirian

That doesn't make a lot of sense. Both are identical. I agree DHS does not have to deal with the same sitelines... but instead of adapting their own they are quite literally duplicating nearly every aspect of the layout designed for DL.

Either they are duplicates and equally 'encompassing' or they are not.

The one thing I maybe could see is a wider main thoroughfare at WDW with their 'berm' pushed back a little closer to GMR/Mickey. But that's not really what I'd call encompassing. Unless they have plans to use that added space, getting back to the not a clone issue.

Just going by what @tirian said ... lol

That's what confused me too.

Let's see if I have this correctly:

Number of upcharge SW parties in DHS: 1 per year
Number of upcharge preview parties for Pandora: zero
Number of upcharge parties for Mission Breakout: 1

And from that, we can deduce that DL will have a month's worth of upcharge preview parties for SWL?

Welcome to the MiceAge logic.

I'm sure someone in TDA started throwing that idea around as a tongue-in-cheek comment, which is where MC got their "scoop". However I find it unlikely they would limit their new crown jewel for a month or more for fee based "preview parties". Especially when they are likely wanting to open Memorial Day weekend 2019 to coincide with Ep 9 being released.

Who said month besides me? I just threw month out there as an idea, not as a rumor.

I’m not vouching for MiceChat being right here, but I can definitely see the logic of this idea, if: (1) May 2019 is the target opening date, to coincide with Episode 9; (2) Disneyland’s SWL will be finished several months ahead of WDW.

If it’s sitting there ready, why not charge people extra to see the new crown jewel before everyone else? This will mitigate some of the insane crowds SWL will bring to a small park, and Disney will earn a boatload of money.

What does "encompassing" mean?

It sounds like a word used by a WDW fan who wants to seem like they have the full WDI schematic and creative review on their laptop at home (they don't), and is just grumbling that the lands will be identical clones but that Disneyland gets to open theirs first.

Either that, or he knows WDI will be planting a lot of trees on a berm to help hide the MuppetVision theater right next door. :D

Meanwhile in Anaheim, here's a neat "360 degree" walkthrough of the first part of the new berm that will separate Star Wars from Frontierland. This gentleman has smart and pleasant commentary, seems like a normal nice guy, and you can spin the camera around 360 degrees. Fun!

No, it's a word used to mean the Florida version won't have the same sightline issues as DL and will feel more like its own place rather than an awkward offshoot crammed between Critter Country and Frontierland.

I didn't claim to have any secret information and have carefully separated verified facts from my own opinions. And since I visit DL regularly, why would I care whose land opened first?

Don't you know that everything TDA does is WRONG?!?!?! ;)

Funny how the Horrible Tower Makeover is now praised for its quality (the exterior oil rig notwithstanding).

I don't understand why everyone dislikes the exterior. The worst thing I'll say about it is that it doesn't mesh with the surroundings at all, but that's DCA design flaw #372011.

That's kind of big one though no? For a 20 story building not to mesh with its surroundings?

P.S it's ugly

Are we sure they will be opening both on the same day? Or will they do a staggered opening with DL being first.
