I'm sure someone's asked...and I'm positive i haven't found it...

Hitting DL for the first time ever (as a WDW veteran) and I'm a big fan of steam locos...

I know they keep saying Summer 2017 for the re-opening of the DLRR...anyone know the time range? I'm headed there the first week of August.

Thanks and my apologies in advance...

Word on these boards is RR won't be testing until Sept. Sorry - but you should still be able to visit the nice steam engine exhibit they have set up at the New Orleans station.

britain--no need to apologize. This is a huge thread. I'm sorry I have to be so oblique sometimes, but I have to rely on a wide variety of contacts "inside the berm" to accumulate information. Sometimes there is specific "hard data", and other times it is best guesses, inference, or calculating most likely alternatives. For instance, in the latter category I would place speculation about what functions will live in the two new service buildings on the NE corner of SWL across from Toontown.

Info about the DLRR is in the first category--someone I know well talked to a RR engineer several weeks ago who said they were told in a meeting that the trains would not begin testing until September and that a reopening date was highly speculative. Sorry to dampen your spirits.

No, it's not like Mission Space at all.

It is just a giant, slowly-revolving turntable, kind of like a horizontal ferris wheel. People board their Millenium Falcon at one point, they go around the circle as the turntable revolves, and then they get off. While the rotation will be almost, if not actually, imperceptible, the point is to create the illusion that there's only one ship, unlike Star Tours and Mission Space which make it obvious that you're boarding one of many.

Interesting -- is this still speculation or did plans leak? If so, sounds like what you are explaining is basically the simulator carousel component of HP Forbidden Journey, eh?

If that's the case, they could make part of the queue look like the inside of the MF -- and when you get into the cockpit, the door closes behind you and you're off -- with no idea that you've left the rest of the ship behind! More like a clock, you tick to the next spot and the next cockpit locks into place. Seems like it would be very immersive, but incredibly low-capacity!!!

Oh I wasn't apologizing, I was saying sorry that @Seabasealpha1 won't get to ride on the train. Thanks for the info confirmation.

The big trestle looks like it might have a spur line on it. Looks wide enough to split. Look at the end away from CB land.

I think the wood on the left is just for a walkway, the actual railroad ties are the thicker wood on the right that only come down about 1/4 of the span. Looks like they'll be using long ties (probably every 5th one) to put in the railing on the river side, a nice touch to replicate 1800's trestle construction.

Is that big white pipe thingy going from the sandy construction area up over some trees/berm and into the dry riverbed a cement delivery system?

@marni1971 and others described how it will work in the DHS Star Wars Land thread, back before construction really began. Of course there's no guarantee they're right, but I'd put good money on it, especially after seeing these recent photos.

Yeah, I think Forbidden Journey's carousel component is a good rough comparison. And I believe what you said about the queue going into the falcon itself, and only the cockpit being its own vehicle, is indeed how it will work. I would go back and look at Martin's posts if I weren't so busy.

My thought on the capacity that is, if each carousel makes one full rotation every X number of minutes, or if everyone unloads/loads at once (ala Mission Space) every X number of minutes, capacity is no different. The fact that there are four carousels, so basically four copies of the ride, should help lighten the load.

I'm not a huge fan of simulators but this ride is intriguing. Excited to see how it turns out.

Thanks for sharing. So basically Star Tours simulators on a Carrousel? No kuka arm. Do we know what these ride vehicles are capable of? I had read that this attraction was going to be the the more thrilling of the two SWL attractions. I'm just trying to understand from a motion perspective, what will make this more thrilling then say Star Tours?
