I wrote about my Rise experience on the other thread, but here are a few random thoughts about GE after my trip last week.

The Land: Disney has done an incredible job creating this land and outpost. It actually feels as though you are on a backwater planet or on the set of one of the movies. Lots of small details to take in that hit all the fanboy g-spots. A+ on how it looks.

Disclaimer: I'm both a Star Wars and Disneyland fan, but I'm firmly wearing the Star Wars hat here. I totally understand the argument that GE does not feel like Disneyland (true), but it does feel like Star Wars, lookswise, at least.

Atmosphere: I'm with the folks saying there needs to be more going on than the Rey, Chewie, Kylo walkarounds. Shows, more characters, more attractions, etc. Hopefully, Rise being a hit loosens Chapek's wallet.

MFSR: OK......I really did not like this ride. Seeing the full sized Falcon outside and the interior later were lump in the throat moments for me, but the ride is just not good. My experience mirrors what several folks on these boards have described: I was a gunner and got to mash an awkwardly placed button when the awkwardly placed light flashed. Really? I couldn't really follow the mission because I had to scan left constantly. They somehow made being in the cockpit of the Falcon boring. That takes some doing.

Shops: I liked the in-world merch, though I get why some people don't. The small size of the marketplace shops and Resistance pop-up stands were awkward with the large crowds. I get that the layout choice fits the theming they were going for but it makes shopping tougher. Dok-Ondar's Den is practically an attraction itself with all the Star Wars items on the walls.

Oga's: Looked great, Rex was cool, bartenders were fine but not a fun experience overall. We had reservations and were told we'd be at the bar. That's fine, but what they do is make you stand behind two people whose 45 minute time limit is almost up and you're supposed to move into that space when they leave. Really? We get to hover? They were also cramming more people around the bar than was comfortable. We had one drink and got out. Probably won't do it again.

Savi's: Yup, I plunked down two hundy to build a lightsaber, and I'm not one bit sorry. It's a great experience for the Star Wars geek, even with the mediocre acting. But at that price, it's unlikely I'll do it again.

All in all, there was plenty I liked in GE. Rise is a good (not great) attraction and I did feel that I was on a Star Wars planet. But Oga's and MF are not good and there needs to be more going on in a land that size and more things to do that don't cost a ton of money.

Pretty much exactly how I feel about it all.

Whenever they do bring in some more entertainment the focus definitely needs to be the force, light saber duels etc. The land is desperately missing that. There should also be a little show in some dark cave with a yoda AA and/ or projections even if it’s a walk through. I can understand no Luke, Leia and Han but C3P0 and Yoda need to be in GE somewhere. And of course eventually Vader will be introduced someway, somehow. Unfortunately the reactionary folks in charge at the moment will probably want to make the additions to GE revolve around the Mandalorian because of one good season and not the proven episodic films.

Oh ya. I’m going to need an Ewok AA somewhere. I don’t care where.

Good choices. Of course, a major correction needs to be moving off of this ridiculous time line and getting characters from all the films into the land. It still staggers me that the most iconic villain in movie history isn't available in GE.

Still, even with the dopey timeline, the Mandalorian could appear. GE is set only 25 years ahead of his time. He could still be around.

I agree. I don’t mind a Mandalorian presence. I just don’t think it should be the focus.

Until I saw it for myself, I didn't quite comprehend just how BIG GE is. It just kept going and going. All that for two rides.

It is quite a sprawling space. And when Mr. Chapek cut out all the entertainment and interactive droids and stuff, that made it seem even more sprawling as you walk through it.

As if cancelling the C Ticket transportation ride around the land wasn't dumb enough, the decision to cut out almost all planned live entertainment and interactivity was just idiotic. I don't think I'll ever get over what a boneheaded decision that was.

And it proved to me who we were dealing with in Mr. Chapek; that final nail in the coffin was hammered down this past summer with the debut of Star Wars Land in its current incarnation.

Speaking of sprawling, that reminds me...

Did we ever get a satellite comparison of how the two lands differ from coast to coast? I was the one who caused many Floridians to get their feathers ruffled over my claim that the Disneyland version looked to be a tad bigger around the edges. Did we ever see a satellite comparison now that both lands are complete and open?

I thought it was well established that Disneyland's is bigger?

I'm so hot and cold when it comes to this land.
As a fan of the sequels, I like the land a lot, but as a fan of all of Star Wars it kind over lacks in certain areas. I understand that they wanted guests to experience their own Star Wars story in the current timeline but that severely dated the land as soon as The Rise of Skywalker came out. I like that they created their own planet and everything but... The live entertainment cut really ruined what could've been special. And that 3rd ride really shouldn't have been cut from the budget. It would've added a lot more to the land and if they wanted an actual trill ride they could built a speeder bike coaster that runs through the mountain-scape of Rise.

Oh well! Can't please everyone. Now I will focus my dagger eyes on the sad and pathetic excuse for a land that is Tomorrowland.

What’s even wilder is that the land hasn’t progressed in time, at all. It’s odd to have a land with “living” characters who pretend they don’t have a clue what their story outcome is.

Ray will not recognize her own lightsaber.

Just wild that it’s stuck square in a spot that has most Star Wars fans divided (following The Last Jedi).

Which is why I wouldn't mind if they made it so only Rise of the Resistance was in that point in the timeline whilst everything else was a tasteful mix. I honestly don't even know what I want anymore.

But how cool would it be if they put the jedi training show in an indoor theater near Rise? You enter the caverns of ancient ruins and enter a temple within the caves and the aspiring young Jedi are trained by Rey and an animatronic *ghost* Yoda? Show runs similar to the other show but the final "boss" is an animatronic of Darth Sidious as we see him in Episode 9?

Ok now I'm just dreaming and asking for too much.

They should make a ride where we get to ride around on a weird metal arm and be the emperor.

But
I'm one of the guys making fun of Target Run for barely being able to maintain a 30 minute wait during its opening year.

But even I fully expect the wait time for Target Run to explode to 90 to 120 minutes the moment they saddle it with Fastpass. It won't be hard to do.
But isn't a part of the reason why wait times are lower is the fact that there is no Fastpass? People complain all over the site that Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, etc. have longer lines due to Fastpass. You're anticipating that wait times will go up when Fastpass goes online. So, logically, if the ride had started out with fastpasses wait times would always have been longer.

My dad knows zero about Star Wars - I had to explain who Chewbacca was when we saw him - and he thinks the themeing is impressive. Especially the rocks.

Your not asking too much. The Jedi Academy show in Paris has similar elements. The kids even get to levitate R2-D2. That show should have been part of the experience from the beginning.

A land that doesn’t progress in time? In Disneyland? Oh my.

Guests shouldn’t worry about this, says Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director.

“Galaxy’s Edge is supposed to be set after Episode 8, before 9, but we’re also making it so that it’s very common so that it can fit within the whole Star Wars universe,” Chiang says. “We wanted to deliberately keep it very ambiguous.”

"We knew that this was going to be a flexible stage for future storytelling, so what you see on opening day might not necessarily be what you’ll see in the near future," says Margaret Kerrison, Managing Story Editor for Walt Disney Imagineering. "So we have a lot of new stories coming in from Star Wars, with new films opening and new animated series and new books, all kinds of multimedia storytelling - all of that is going to be incorporated into our land."

“Trowbridge's remark that the evolution of Galaxy’s Edge isn’t over makes sense, since there’s much from the Star Wars universe that Disney can use. For example, the movie franchise istelf has new characters and storylines to tap into, and all the new Star Wars TV series launching on Disney's new streaming service, Disney+, will provide even more content for Imagineers to use.”

“The events that happen here in Black Spire Outpost are true in the world of "Star Wars." They're not isolated from the rest of "Star Wars" storytelling. The things that happen here are true throughout this entire kind of canon of "Star Wars" storytelling”

“This trading port is really a stepping off point for all kinds of new stories and we have so many stories we want to tell. That's one of the great things about "Star Wars," there will never be an end to the number of "Star Wars" stories that we can tell.”

...should I go on?

...should I go on?

Why? This is nothing new. We already knew the land was a canvas to incorporate future SW stories. The idea that it will never change or evolve is just goofy hate talk.
