Has anyone spotted one of these in the land anywhere? Would be a great easter egg.

Visited earlier this week. My biggest take away(and honestly the biggest failure of the land) is the lack of a musical score. The opening tunnel with the new John Williams theme is so epic and makes it feel as if you are entering a movie, from that point on theres no more score (for the most part). The sound effects are cool, but it feels like watching a Star Wars movie without the soundtrack. It creates a barrier and lack of emotional connection between the land and I, and while the effects of ships taking off and flying above are cool, there is no reason why Disney couldn't use those sounds, but also had an incredible musical score throughout the land. In many areas I found myself standing in almost complete silence with maybe some bug noises. The most effective part of the land was Savi's, and I truly believe thats party cause its the only area that used music and not just diegetic noises. I think it could be that much better if they just added some orchestral score in different areas, instead it just feels dead. I understand what the imagineers were going for, but in my opinion it just didn't work.

I remember thinking the same thing about the Indiana Jones ride when it opened. The whole queue outdoors has the diagetic 1930s radio, inside the temple it’s mostly atmospheric sound effects. But they were saving the music for the emotional punch of the ride itself. I suspect that’s what’s going to happen with RotR.

People want to role-play (not me) but not at the cost of losing the emotional connection to the source material in the first place. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started adding more music to the land. I can see how it could feel dead with static props, no moving droids/ creatures, streetmosohere or music

But thats one attraction queue (building up to the attraction) compared to a gigantic land.

I agree with you. That is my one concern is they have limited the number of possibilities of combinations. I would like to see more. Because you can't mix pieces from the different types. What you pick is what you get. You want the Rancor tooth? Then you can only pick other pieces from the same set. That I don't like. If you're going to restrict it like that, then give me more choices of parts.

I am withholding my thoughts on the plastic look until I see them in person. I think they look awesome. I just think that the videos people are showing are not doing them justice...I hope.

OK, it seemed like they grabbed a tray for your "theme", and thAt is all you could choose from. So, in actuality, there is VERY little customization. Disney seems to have told the bloggers to keep that a secret.

Our waiter at the Cantina was happy to tell us, out of character, he’s over all of it and has “been here too long today.”

That's hysterical! :D

It hasn't even been a full week yet, and crowds have been incredibly light and controlled by Big Brother in TDA who won't let more in.

That waiter needs to look for another line of work, maybe in an old Pasadena tea shop that has four tables and is open from 11am to 3pm.

A job at Disneyland doesn't seem to have been a wise career choice for that Cantina waiter.

To be fair, the CM's in Oga's have been given an extremely difficult job. Serving an overpacked bar full of people on a time and drink limit is a lose-lose situation. Service can't be fast or friendly. Tips will be minimal as a result. If Oga's keeps operating this way they will not be able to keep staff.

After this opening summer Oga's MUST become 21 and over. They need to build a satellite bar inside/adjacent to Docking Bay 7 so adults who want drinks can have them in a space that's appropriate for children. Oga's needs to convert bar top and all tables to seating and switch to a reservation-only system. The connecting restaurant needs to be built and Oga's needs to introduce a food menu. Oga's was so spectacularly designed it's a shame that it's such an unpleasant experience currently.

I get what they're doing right now but I really hope they're going to turn the Cantina experience into what it needs to be.

Look, if they follow WDW's model with Be Our Guest it's only a matter of time before DB-7 starts serving beer and wine. Next come Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, and Carnation. After that buffeteria locations like French Market, Plaza Inn, and Rancho del Zocalo. Over how long a time, I don't know. But I'm betting it will happen. I was actually surprised DB-7 didn't have beer and wine and maybe even machine dispensed specialty "slushy" drinks like Oga's. I suppose it will depend on the response to Oga's.

OTOH, I can't see how they won't have at least beer and wine at DB-7 in FL. DHS has alcohol all over the rest of the park, so I would expect it there. We'll see.

A couple other things of note, when I went the 6th, a day after I went on the 5th, a few things weren't working. The Loth Cat was completely static, and the Droid Depot overhead droid part conveyer thing wasn't moving either. Both were working the first day I went.
