My response was meant to be a humorous response to the quote above it about the wookie and using the “refresher” aka bathroom from a galaxy far far away....
I actually have a good feeling about the Star Wars hotel boutique experience thingy!
Sorry!! Sometimes I miss the sarcasm or quotes through the text!

How in the world do we spend months, even years, speculating and fantasizing yet we seemed to miss an actual official announcement???!!!!

While this may have already been known to us via insiders (@marni1971 ) I cannot believe no one posted this.

"Today we are happy to share the location of this exciting addition, which is currently under development on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, just east of World Drive."

It got posted in the other SW Hotel thread...

Apologies if this has already been discussed.. But I've been wondering how they'll make the transition from the ship being landed on a planet to the ship opriting in space?

When you arrive at the hotel, it's supposed to be like boarding a grounded ship at Black Spire Outpost correct? So at what point between entering the grounded ship does it make the transfer to being in space? Will there be some sort of "transport chamber" similar to what will be used at the Mission Space restaurant?

Another thought.. Will there be some sort of separation of the resort's parking lot from the actual resort "spaceship" building? Or will it look like a ship landed adjacent to a parking lot?

A simple simulator ride can fix that. You'll ride a shuttle up to the transport.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. However, if I'm a guest staying there and say I left my phone in my car... Would I have to sit through the "transport" simulation every time entering and exiting the hotel?

They could tell you that your phone won't work in space.

People will have to make some concessions to gain full immersion. One of those is likely to be phones and pads. Can you imagine being in a tense scenario where the transport is being boarded by Imperial stormtroopers to search for Rebel spies, and someone's cell phone rings?

Darth Vader would not approve. I know it would twist my knickers as well, if I paid some ginormous amount of money to immerse myself in the Star Wars universe, and somebody else ruins it by taking a phone call in the middle of the action...

Since any "window" in the ship will have to be a screen they could very easily have the screen show a landed view and then at some point you see the takeoff and then it switches to the space view.

If you properly theme the parking lot, the landed ship next to the lot would make sense.

The answers to a lot of the questions people are bringing up are really going to be dependent on how far Disney is going to take the immersion. With any immersive environment that have to be at least some compromises for practical reasons. We will have to see how far Disney will take it, but I have a feeling they will compromise more often then some people think. For example, the question of whether you can leave the hotel during the experience. I think Disney will recommend not doing that to get the most out of it, but I doubt they will stop it.

This all seems very exciting, but I just don't see Disney keeping up with it for years and years. The way they have over time made budget cuts, if this is something you would like to do, do it in the first couple of years.

With regards to how they get you to the "ship", I could see them following a modified Disney Cruise line procedure, with a terminal where you deposit your bags and check in, and then you cross a gangplank and are welcomed on the the "ship". I doubt that they would have an additional ride to get you to the "ship"

Easy enough if u think hydrolaters...

You arrive at a port.... no ship seen

Later, environmental and visual effects simulate ship arriving. The move to another area... more effects... we are in space!

Or you arrive at a port... no ship seen. We enter a transport room (mini star tours)... we are shuttled to orbit.

It doesnt take much when you remove all outside referneces to create an alternate reality and fake things.

If they are going for full immersion then why are there Hondas in a parking lot out front? This is where I'm excited to see how far they take the story immersion and how they handle the Earth-meets-Star Wars conundrum.
