Well, I was just thinking of the aircraft carrier, but on reflection, there's no way you could get one that far up the Delaware River.
It’s about 8 feet in some parts…

we had a beluga up stream about 15 years ago driving fish into the shoals and people were mobbing the overlooks to watch it…quite amusing.

I saw a photo of someone who received his starcruiser tunic on reddit. Didn't look bad, but the concern over there now is that those folks wont be able to be completely immersed in the Larpiness of this because other people will still be wearing tees and streetclothes. I think the hard core LARPers who are looking forward to this are going to be angry that the Smith family isn't playing along and that little bobby has a slinky dog tshirt on and dad just wants to drink some beer and not play make believe while the kids go do their thing. So few ways for this thing to be a success and so many ways for it to turn out poorly.

But guaranteed to be an amusing social experiment.

I'd be more concerned of a bunch of people wearing the same exact outfit from the Disney Store than some people still in regular street clothes. Thinking of Renaissance Faires and there is a fair share of people who do not dress up and LARP and it works out just fine.

Ya know, Civil War Reenactors are LARPers, too.

So, the next time some of you doubters, who are all ""confused"" about what this is about, meet one, ask them about it.

And as they explain, just heavily roll your eyes at them. And keep saying "Really? You enjoy *that*?"

And ask them egregiously stupid questions about highly unlikely scenarios like "What if someone dressed up in a Star Trek uniform?" or "What if someone brought live ammo to the reenactment?".

Because that kind of interaction is so respectful and sincere.

You can imagine can't you?

"So if you fall and hurt your leg, does one of your buddies chop it off and burn the area so you don't bleed out because having am ambulance there would just ruin the immersion"?

"If your friend is diabetic does he not inject his insulin in case it ruins the immersion of pre-insulin days"?

"Do you make sure the battles take place in areas where there is a no fly zone as a plane in sight might remind people it's not actually the civil war era"?

There's "playing along" and "fully committing." Disney has been very clear that you can do as much of either as you wish. You can also choose to sit back and observe with drink in hand.
I wonder if there will be a cap on the number of adult beverages consumed consecutively?

Oga figured it out with the 45 minute time limit. You have to order your second drink before you taste the first one.
Oga's Pro-Tip: try to score a reservation just before or just after park close. Oga's officially stays open 1 hour past park close (which is why you can get rezzies at 9:15 when the park closes at 9), but unofficially they will not kick you out (I mean, if it's 2 AM, they might start to highly encourage you to leave). They also tend to ignore the 2-drink cap as the night progresses.

So if you can make your reservation right around park close, you can enjoy a few libations, a snack, and if you ask nicely, you might get a roadie to take with you when you go. As an added bonus, since you're leaving after park close, you just might get to enjoy a leisurely stroll through a virtually empty park with your to-go drink. It is a truly fantastic way to end an evening.
