I can't imagine the various scenarios and activities aren't being designed with some degree of flexibility. Kids are going to get cranky and want to go back to their rooms, runners will want to go for a morning jog, people will need to go back to the car for things they forgot, etc., etc.

None of that conflicts with what I said. Nor does any of that mean you have to leave the enclosed facility (minus going back to the car..). But those kinds of things can be handled on the small scale basis needed. As I said, Disney isn't going to LOCK YOU IN... but it's also not an open lobby concept where people come and go as they please either.

The activities include both free form.. flexible.. and set stuff too. Again.. think like the cruise ships. There are scheduled activities, self-discovery things, shows, dinners.

Imagine being at the cantina enjoying a drink, and seeing an improptu action sequence play out in the area... maybe guests are involved, maybe you just watch from afar. Maybe you decided to go take a nap instead...

i dont see why they'd MAKE you stay in there the entire time. They want people to spend their money all around the Disney World property.

The hotel I was talking about doesn't lock you in. I was talking about destination hotels where everything is indoors.. All of your food and entertainment can be had without walking outside.

Your family might get a page, say, when it's your turn to do lightsaber training with a dude in a robe. This would be in addition to larger-scale arrival and departure show sequences and/or nightly live entertainment.

Has anyone found some good examples of instances of immersive roleplay hotel experiences already in existence? I'm sure there's several out there.

I think it's less like wait in line to fight kylo, and more like a murder hotel weekend. Every cast member is part of the story and in character. The whole place is immersive.. and its a more organic experience than a scavenger hunt on the lido deck.

If anyone can pull it off, It's disney. I can't wait.

Imagine. You are booking passage on a transport. Somewhere along the line, the transport becomes embroiled between the rebels and the empire. Troops board the transport. Rebels fight back. Maybe someone slips you information that has to be delivered.. maybe you choose to do it.. or choose not to. You basically have the choice to be an acrive or passive parricipant... that's the kind of thing I suspect they are aiming for.

What's not clear is whether Disney would be offering multiple days-worth of experiences at the Star Wars thing, or if there would be a recommended 2-days, 2-nights package for families to see most of the stuff on offer

Again.. simply look at the cruise lines. Fixed duration stays that are scheduled that people reserve. The durations were up in the air before. The 2 day overheard now is shorter than they were talking before.. but again, this was part of the reason they were surveying potential guests. To decide what tolerances were out there and what the market was interested in.

Exactly what they are going for... They are very cognizant of people's varied interest in how much they participate vs observe.

I'm not seeing this.
There will be magic band "turnstiles" to keep non-guests from getting into the good stuff, but if your magic band says you've paid for it, the door (airlock? Themed elevator?) is gonna be open.

Are you able to just walk into a Broadway show? Why is this so hard to comprehend?? Stop thinking Hotel, start thinking destination.

More like the doors won't open to you, I would imagine.

Disney isn't going to let ma and pa kettle in to gawk among people dropping thousands for full on immersion.

Right, you aren't like locked in, but just like now, I can walk into another hotel to check out the theme or eat, outsiders can't come in either.

No, but they are going to want Johnny AP Holder to know what he's missing.
I'm envisioning the lobby and main gift shop being open to the general public, with enough theming on view to give people a taste of what's there and what the concept is. The immersive stuff will be behind checkpoints scanning magic bands.

I wonder if they'll make it easy for tourists who typically stay on property to upgrade for 1 or 2 nights out of their 7-21 days. It's something I'd definitely do but as we book through travel agents, you book the whole package.

What I'm getting at is that if I book a package 21 night stay (incl flights) but wanted to take 2 nights out of say Yacht and Beach Club mid trip to try out this hotel...how easy would that be?

I'm thinking it won't be possible as this things going to fill up without needing to make it easier for people.

I booked a split stay with a travel agent. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do it with the SW hotel.

I'm thinking more about the Adventurers' Club. Having the miniature performances being more informal than a Broadway Show is more fun, more flexible, and more immersive.

Yes, that's exactly the kinds of entertainment you can expect. But not sure what that has to do with the topic of free movement in and out of the place.. which is what we were talking about.

The UK extended travel stuff is it's own beast. But I'm sure they'll accomodate it in some way. Probably more like how they do any split-stays now... like where you stay in the Poly for a week, then GF, etc.

You could always do it at either the beginning or end of the stay if for whatever reason they could not accommodate a break in the middle.

They're good with cruise/hotel splits...I just wonder if the 1-3 night in the Star Wars hotel upgrade will be a 'thing' that is offered as standard.
