Star Tours testing new efficiency techniques?

I was on star tours today, and I overheard a conversation between an apparent cast member and someone in his party. They were discussing a competition that is occurring between the california star tours and the florida star tours. Basically it sounded like they were competing to see which team was able to move people through in the most efficient manner. Before I had noticed that they were sending people with guest assistance cards away with cards with later return times to alleviate the stress on the fast pass line. Could this be a trial run for a new policy with guest assistance cards? I was wondering in anyone knew more about this. Also if there are any other new things they are trying out. If nothing else it is interesting that the coasts are having a competition... go Team star tours orlando!

I think it depends on which kind of GAC they have. If it's an alternate entrance (wheelchair, etc), they're put in the bypass queue that avoids the entire indoor queue. It bridges over the main queue, and comes out by Gate 4 (or is it called Gate D now?).

If the person has a "can't wait in line" GAC, they're either encouraged to get a FastPass, or sometimes given a special type of FP with a return time equivalent to the current standby queue time.

seems to be an apple and oranges comparison. in cali its located in the main park. it's got many other rides that just as big or bigger in popularity as opposed to dhs it's one of the marquee attractions. although what it could be is how many ppl per hour can either location get through (unless its dead, there will always be a line at either park)

I know that they have been hitting record numbers getting as many guests in per hour and per day as possible beating previous records held by the attraction. So it must be working.

I can't see how the different sites could compete. DHS has 50% more capacity than DLs version.

Tower, splash, and thunder also recently had competitions with Cali. They are not comparing actual numbers but percentages of the target. If Florida splash has a carry target of 1935 and Cali has 1700, if Florida only gets 1900 people through in one hour and Cali gets 1705, Cali wins for that hour.
