Until a few weeks ago it denoted the location of the ride, just down the left. Now it will denote the location of the gift shop.

^Ha, was about to say the same thing.

I'm not sure what I make of the new entrance, might look better in person so I'm reserving full judgement.

Plans have also confirmed that what was the Star Traders shop is now becoming a character meet and greet location with two rooms. Unfortunately it won't be anything like the American ones as it's on a much smaller scale. Also begs to question whether the shop will be moving into the huge space at the exit of the ride.

What's affected by Star Tours 2.0 is what has always been Star Wars related in the park. Behind much of the rest of Discoveryland.

Buzz Lightyear and Hyperspace Mountain are much bigger offenders to the land's theme and look IMO.

Oh I know, and I agree. Star Wars should've been reserved for WDSP.

I hate the Hyperspace Mountain overlay crap. Build a new coaster instead. Leave the rest of Discoveryland alone!
