"Standard" Boardwalk Villas

Hey there, hi there, ho there WDW-keteers,,,

Planning a trip in the summer. Wife and I are DVC members. We're going to spend a week in a studio at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, followed a 3 night stay in a one BR Villa at the Boardwalk. Would've preferred BCV, if only for the pool, but they're sold out, and I would've had to rent a few extra points anyway. Staying in the "Standard View" section of Boardwalk works out in terms of the points we have, and I always wanted to be in walking dinstance of Epcot and The Studios.

Granted, I know room requests aren't necessarily honored (though they try). But I was wondering if anyone knows what section of the Boardwalk Villas comprise the "Standard View" section? Are there any decent views, or is it all views of the parking lot? By decent views, I know we're not gonna overlook the lake or anything, but are they any quiet, wooded areas that may be considered "standard?" And does anyone know what areas would be good to request?

I didn't put this in DVC, only because I know some people may have stayed in the Villas who aren't DVC members, and wanted to get their input as well, and I know many non-DVC members don't even necessarily look in the DVC subforum.

Thanks in advance.

We stay in a "standard view" DVC accommodation each time we stay at Boardwalk. We always look out at the front entrance, or driveway to the front entrance. If you continue down that corridor, and around the corner, your room view includes the pond at the entrance and the main drag (is that World Drive? I forget).

I understand some standard view rooms look over the tennis courts.

The great thing about these rooms is this: you can see (and frequently hear) EPCOT fireworks every night. My wife and kids LOVE the show.

Because the point costs are different for standard view vs. boardwalk/pool views, it is not just a request, you must actually reserve the room when you book. Because the rooms cost less (in points) they are usually the first ones booked up by the BWV owners prior to the 7 month window when all the other DVC members can book at the resort. It can't hurt to ask if they are available but I doubt you will be able to get it. You can always try the waitlist for them.

well, I already have a standard-view reservation. Unless for whatever reason they upgrade me, and I'm certainly not counting on that, a standard view room is a lock. Just wondering if there are better standard-view locations than others that I can request.

We stayed in a standard villa, it was in the 3100 block of rooms which when you drive into the resort that area is to your left. The view is of the cars coming in and there is a small pond and gardens to look at. Believe it or not, it was very quiet and very pretty. we could sit on the balcony and watch the Epcot fireworks at night, in the morning we'd sit out there and the sun would shine on the balcony and it was really nice. Even though we are not DVC members, we have since stayed in upgraded villas with a view of the water and The Swan and Dolphin. The views here are beautiful, but the standard villa really was nice too.

Heading for the great escape.
I would have thought that the standard view rooms all face the entrance and car park, as ll other rooms either overlook a pool or waterway or the Boardwalk.

We had one last summer, room was great, dont think the view was even noticed. Not keen on the Boardwalk felt it was cold and lacked heart, IMHO down to the resturants and shops being on the Boardwalk and some snooty guests.

Wilderness Villas this year.:sohappy:

That's great, sorry I didn't realize you already had the reservation. As I understand it, they can be pretty difficult to come by. As others have said, most of these view the parking lot or main entrance where the ME busses pull up. Either way, the location of this resort is great, you'll be about half way in between the Studios and Epcot (a little closer to Epcot). Have a great trip.
