SSE photos not working

My daughter's favorite part of SSE is seeing her face in the "movie" that you make on the ride down (she's 8). We rode it Tuesday morning and it didn't pick up her face, nor did it pick up my other daughter and an adult we were with. It only got half my face. So, my daughter asked if we could ride it again, which we did in the evening. This time it didn't pick up any of our faces, and there were 6 of us (4 adults). I asked a CM as we were disembarking if they were aware the camera wasn't working and she had no idea. I thought since it seemed to be having trouble all day, that would be something they knew about, but she was surprised. Anyone know if there is something wrong with the cameras or if it was just bad luck for us?

There’s something wrong (again) and no Siemens to fix it this time.

At least they claimed they didn’t know. I complained the dawn of time projectors were failing and they said "they know". Not that they shouldn’t be doing SQ rides several times a day.
What were the projectors doing? When I was there, they seemed dim.

Oh gosh, thank you for this! As an avowed animatronic adorer, I have such a soft spot for SE, and I wondered if the extreme dimness in the "dawn of time" scene was an illusion of my eyes not having fully adjusted to the dark yet. Really hope a projector upgrade will happen at some point.

Curious, though: what are "SQ rides"?

I rode it 9 times in the last 3 weeks and the photos only worked twice for me out of all those experiences. So yeah, it's definitely hit or miss more often than not now.

My SO and I were pretty bummed it wasn't working most of the time as we love to have fun with that feature and laugh

Here’s me from a few weeks back.

Another ride didn’t work at all, and another one did. It’s more than the normal rejection ratio though.

Projector lamps will definitely fade with age. If they have a life of 2,000 hours, they should be replaced at around 1,000 hours. Unfortunately the lamps are pretty expensive (like around $400 each), so a lot of folks will just run them to failure, which is bad show.

Time for another refurb, especially the last part where you're descending backward. The only point of the photos is to see your face in the possible future at the end. (Maybe in the exhibit afterward where people's locations are projected on a large screen).
