Just got off the phone with Disney. Was on hold for one hour. The agent informed me he had 273 calls on hold at that moment. Anyway I don't feel like they opened up many rooms for this new deal. We are going in mid May and staying at Riverside; and need the drop down bed. The only rooms available at Riverside were the Royal rooms that would only save me $70. I could not do this b/c of losing the fold down bed. Also French Quarter he said was totally sold out. This surprised him. Now I am not a big fan of Coronado or Caribbean so I will just sit put until the next deal hits. He said they may be holding rooms for the next deal. In conclusion a deal was posted but I unfortunately could not take advantage of it. Sucks!

If you book through Orbitz, the current promo code they offer on the top of the homepage (GIFTME) gives you an additional 15% off these discounted prices. Though you might want to read up on booking with Orbitz on the Mouse Savers website if your trip includes children. (They have a glitch that charges them the extra-adult fee, so you have to book without any children and then call Orbitz and have them add the children onto the reservation)

Edit: Orbitz promo code expires Jan 4th.

For additional info on this child rate "glitch", scroll down to the Online Travel Agencies section:

I actually really like Coronado, it is one of my personal favorites especially the Business Class area there, plus I am curious to see the refurbished rooms for Caribbean, they look kind of nice in the pictures I have seen, so I am intrigued.
Respect, keep checking even during this part of the promo, as availability is always changing. POFQ is always more difficult, if not impossible to get with any discount. It wasnt specifically excluded from this offer but just because it is a smaller resort, and it's popularity, it becomes tougher. Marie

We booked our honeymoon trip through Disney a couple months ago for early May and were told to call back when the deals were announced for this time frame, so we did today, only to be told there was nothing they could do to adjust it because the # of rooms are limited. I don't understand that... It's not like we're booking a new room and they're sold out, we already booked the room. Maybe I'm just dense. It's disappointing. We have never had to pay full price for a trip before, there was also some sort of deal we could take advantage of.

Are you willing to look at some other resorts to get the discount offers? Marie

Thank you so much for this. I booked with Orbitz last night and was not aware of the glitch. I rebooked today and saved some extra money. Now, I have to call and add my daughter!

Disney doesn't discount rooms out of the goodness of their hearts. If they did, they'd automatically reduce the price for all reservations at all resorts automatically.

They do it because the occupancy level for particular categories of rooms is not at the level they want to ensure a decent profit on those rooms. So they take a calculated number of rooms, reduce their rate to a determined price thus increasing the number of booked rooms. If a particular resort or room category within a resort is at an acceptable level of bookings, what reason is there to offer cheaper rooms?

Obviously the exact room category at the resort you've booked is above that threshold. If you're willing to change something about your reservation (dates, room category or resort) then you might be able to work in a discount.

Good luck. Not ever having to travel with children I've never had to deal with things like this, but I recently learned about this Orbitz glitch while helping a friend book her trip.

Thanks for the explanation. This is the first time I've encountered such a restricted number of discounted rooms available, but that could be just because this is also the first time we booked a trip prior to deals being announced.

Well, we lucked out! We called back and they were able to give us a Club Level room for only $100 more for the entire 10 day stay. We switched from the Deluxe to the Quick Serve dining plan and the cost of the trip went down by $200. We're happy now. :)

We did the Orbitz deal, and I saved an extraordinary amount of money. I don't think I will do it any other way from now on.

After you link the reservation to your MDE profile (the Disney reservation number is buried about 2/3 of the way down in the Orbitz confirmation email) you'll want to make sure your address is correct in the reservation and the Magic Bands mailing info. (I found that the MB order address defaults to the Orbitz corporate address)
