Spring Break Questions

When are kids off in APRIL in your state???

Our school system has given our children off the week of April 23-27th instead of the week before or after Easter. We're trying to plan a 2 week stay in April and want to know if other school systems are doing the same thing.
WHEN ARE CHILDREN OFF IN YOUR STATE?

In Union Co. (a suburban county near Charlotte NC), we have off April 6th (Good Friday) and the whole next week. The kids go back to school on the 16th.

Our next visit to WDW will be during the first week of March, 2007. This is the week of 'Spring Break' at the high school where I teach. I assumed that the crowds would be similar to what we experienced during our Christmas visit last year, but my brother said that most U.S. high schools and colleges have their breaks later than that, and consequently the crowds would not be as they are at Christmas.

Do the American schools have a later 'Spring Break' and what will the crowds in fact be like during that first week in March?

Spring Break can be anytime from the beginning of March to mid April. My daughter's college has break from March 12-19th, but my younger daughter's (7th grade) isn't until the end of March/first week in April.

While many colleges have break around the same time, local school districts can set theirs whenever they choose...usually around Easter.

We have been during college break and also during Easter and the crowds are manageable, much better than summertime. I've never been during Christmastime so I can't compare those.

If you do a quick search you will find other threads discussing this and you may get a better feel for the crowds. No matter when you pick, have a great time on vacation!

The Son has March 19-23rd off, and Good Friday/Easter Monday in April. I don't know if this is the same for Duval County or neighboring counties.

Most FL schools get out in May, (but return in early to mid August) so their spring breaks are generally in early to mid March, regardless of Easter Sunday.

They do not have any sort of midwinter break(as I did when living in New England), but have a longer Christmas break than I remember. The Son's starts after his last exam on the 19th, and he isn't back until the 3rd...a full two weeks later. His classes end on the 13th, but he is expected to study for exams, with tutorials on the 14th.

We go every spring break, which for us is end of March. I agree the worst time to go is the week before and after Easter. Our spring break fell the week after Easter one year and it was horrible. We are going March 23 through April 1. It will be crowded but not totally bad. One year our spring break was at Easter time ( Easter fell early) I said never again. I don't quite know when Easter is for 2007, but I think it is in April. The bright side is that the parks are open later:) . The first week in March shouldn't be too bad.

We are going end of March ( our spring break). We go at that time every year. It is still crowded but ok. The worst time is the week before or after Easter. Our spring break ended up being at Easter only once. It was pretty crowded and we all agreed we won't go at Easter again. They do keep the parks open later at that time though. If you have a choice and don't like crowds I would pick your other times. We don't have a choice because we can't take our kids out of school for a whole week either. Of our last 10 trips ( all at the spring break time) we only had the one tough year when it fell at Easter time. Good luck.

eastern oklahoma/western arkansas spring break

We are out the week beginning March 19. We WILL be in DW!!! Going on Spring Break is sort of like having a baby....You swear you will NEVER do it again, but then you forget all the stress and agony and do it again!!! The reward outweighs the pain! :hammer:

I'm confused...what do the first 1.5 pages have to do with spring break :veryconfu

Anyway....I went twice for spring break in March...the crowds were fine and the weather was good (for the most part). The parks do tend to close earlier, but World Showcase was open later. We would spend the day park hopping and head to Epcot for a late dinner.
