Spring Break 2012!

So to be fair, I did use the search button with hardly any luck! So here is my question and my solicitation for advice...our family is planning a spring break trip to the World(see siggy)...I have heard it can be an absolute madhouse but we want to go anyway. I am in school, all three kids are in school, we have to go during holiday breaks, there is no other option. Stinks but that's life. And seriously, it's WDW, crowds or not we always have a great time.

So answer me this...

Have you gone during Spring Break? What was your experience with crowds and weather?

We are going to be there for 13 full days(yes we are all missing a little school just before and just after our spring breaks). I figure we can go at a leisurely pace and the crowds won't matter as much. What do you think?

What are your tried and true ways to beat crowds (while traveling with or without kids)?

Any other advice or comments you would like to add, feel free!

Thanks!

I've been during spring break. The weather is GREAT but the crowds are awful! It is so packed and every ride (or almost every ride) has a wait time of 30 min or more (usually more).

But you are right - you will have a blast no matter what because you are at WDW :sohappy:

We have done all the major school holidays...Easter (spring break), Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anytime of year when its really busy you just need to go into it with an open mind. Know that you will not get to see and do what you would concider normal. Maybe get out earlier than you would normally. Maybe take in more table service meals to get away from the crowds. I would have to say for us our sping break trip for us was the most as far as crowds and being able to deal with them. And the reason why was because it was Spring break and the temp was as hot at JULY....it was very warm spring that year and family was complaing about the heat which made it not so pleasent. I think you all will have a great time no matter what!! Enjoy!!

I've never been...but may be venturing out to the World during that time (depends on when my dad's golf outing is - thats when my mom said she'd feel the least bad going without him )

My advice though - go early. Get there when the parks open and hit up/grap FP's for the favorite attractions. With the use of FP and early mornings (every mornings) you should be able to get the heavy hitters out of the way. When the parks start filling up - go back to the resort and swim/eat or resort hop and check out some other places. Head back to the parks later and just see less popular attractions. Mornings will be your best bet to hit the popular ones

We were at the world this past spring break, for us it was April 1-9, and the crowds were okay. It was great at MK for early Magic Hours, we hit lots of rides with little wait, then headed to the room for lunch. We had one day of rain, that worked to keep crowds down (and the heat). Easter fell about two weeks after we left, so that helped some, your trip ends a few days before Easter, so expect larger crowds those last few days. Like most have said already, early is better for lower crowds, but I'm sure you'll have a great time, no matter how many or few people are at the parks.

Ironically enough, the busy-ness of Spring Break played into our decision to wait until June. There is nothing available at a reasonable price! But in June it is still pretty wide open. So we're going to wait, even if it is pretty hot. We visit the water parks a lot ;)
