Spray bottle fans

Hey all,

I'm pricing those little misting fans for our upcoming trip. I was thinking I'd save some money by buying them offsite. but when you add in shipping, they are still pretty expensive.

Does anyone know what they typically cost in the parks? I want to make sure the savings is worth the effort of ordering them and then packing them up.

Thanks!

Form what I remember they were $10-$15 at least in the parks. You should be able to find them in Wal-Mart or Target for a lot less once they start putting out their summer stuff.

That's what I was thinking. We're going in mid-March, so I'm not sure they'll be out at the stores in time. I did find some on e-bay for $5.99 each plus $3.99 shipping and handling. But that doesn't sound like all that great of a savings.

Guess I'll take my chances and wait to see if the summer stuff is out at Wal-mart by then. If not, I'll pony up for the in-park version.

Thanks, Master Yoda!

They did have ones in Walmart (here in Canada) for a lot less... BUT they weren't near as good as the ones in WDW. I don't know if you have better ones where you are but I would "splurge" for the ones in WDW. The fan is faster and it really gives you a nice mist - very important when the weather is hot, hot, hot! And if if breaks while you're still there they'll give you a new one... no questions asked!

One note, on some of them the battery compartment keeps popping open... causing your batteries to fall out. They'll replace it for you if this happens but it wouldn't hurt to pack some tape. I tape mine shut just to make sure I don't lose the batteries while I'm walking!

Nice tip, thanks.

I'm adding tape to my packing list :)

You may also want to check out beyond-budget stores, like Dollar Plus, or Five Below, if you've got 'em nesrby. So much of their merchandise is left over from previous seasons (or previous years), that they may still have stuff from last summer on hand.

They up the price in the summer time from what I remember - I would buy one ahead of time if you want to save money. In the spring time they're like 15 dollars...:brick::brick::brick:

Factor in this.....you buy one anywhere else and it breaks while you are in the world....your out of luck. You spend a little more and it breaks, just tell them and they will give you a new one that does work, that is as long as it is really fairly new and not all beat up and looking like it was bought a couple trips ago. Even if you do lose that battery door or even the batteries they will make it right.
On a side note, if you carry a nice camera take your cleaning rag or a lense pen. Guarenteed you will remove the lense cap just as the kid infront of you decides to give that thing a squirt.

Heres something to think about.

Those spary bottles are cheap quality and break really easy. They were not really designed for what they are used for.

I have something called a MistyMate. I bought it for about $20 and it was very very worth it. It's a personal water bottle made for cooling you down. Basically you pump it up and it will provide misty for about 15 mins. It sprays a really fine mist that is far superior to spray bottles and you pump it then use until the pressure runs out and then fill if needed and pump again. Google it and check reviews.

Also there is something else that I haven't used yet but it gets really good reviews. It's called the chilly Pad by Frogg Toggs. Basically supposed to be a super towel you put around your neck and it constantly cools you.

Both are better options then those silly spray bottles.
