It was excellent.

The Snyder Cultists are going to lose their stuff as Gunn makes a popular and successful superhero movie and cements himself as a capable leader of the genre and isn't going to be fired at DC.

I already came across one Snyderverse fan stating that the audience score is inflated due to the movie just releasing. I just told the person that the movie was excellent and people are enjoying it so far.

Might be clichéd to say, but I truly found it to be the most enjoyable MCU movie since Endgame. Thank goodness, as the last few films have been a slog (NWH aside), and that's not even including Quantumania, which I happily skipped.

The end even had me shedding some happy tears - what a great progression for this family of misfits.

Good finality to the current Guardians trilogy.

Glad that none of the Guardians actually died. I suspect we'll get the core team back together at some point in the future whether that be in Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars
Why are you hiding a spoiler in a spoiler thread? What are you *really* trying to hide?!?!!1

It's funny how they punked us all with how we were expecting it to end (which really made some of those scenes feel a lot more consequential) but I'm glad it ended the way it did.

I'm also glad to finally see a Marvel movie I liked again!

I got crapped on by someone for saying this before but I just hope this isn't an anomaly. The combined secret sauce that made this one work is now blown to the far reaches - kind of like the characters.

If nothing else, hopefully someone at Marvel has enough sense to look at this one and conisder why it works better than their other recent releases.

I know hopes are not high for The Marvels but if they got whoever edited the trailer to also edit the movie, it might turn out okay. ;)

Gotg might actually be the biggest “triumph” overall for the MCU…when you weigh all factors.

It really worked out on so many levels. Not the least that no one outside of the Comic Shop had any clue who they were? Unlike most of the others with some Main Street exposure since the 1960s…

Gunn really left with an amazing feat. And I actually think the actors benefited from his firing. Not least of which Pratt and Bautista. Going to bat for him showed in my opinion.

The overall position of marvel becomes…however…even a bigger deal moving forward.

In a way this hit the bittersweet cord like endgame. And this was better than endgame in my view.

But the finality of marvel movies is a feeling we’re getting far too often for Disneys financial tastes.

It can work if it’s a comedy kinda take..

But it looks forced through and through If Brie Larson is meant to slide into a RDJ or Evans slot for high box office.

I like her - unlike many - but it’s never gonna work. It hasn’t…and it won’t.

And what we’ve learned is you can’t replace Luke…no matter how much your marketing says you need to…

…wait…did I Freudian slip there?

The trailer makes it seem like they might, maybe, possibly, lean into the generally poor reception of her character and use the overly enthusiastic Ms. Marvel that was also played a little heavy in her own direction as a counter balance.

As such, they wouldn't need to soften Capt. Mavel much or at all as long as she's not the sole spotlight or the Mary Sue.

I'm not a complete fool, though. I thought the Ant Man 3 trailer looked entertaining, too.

That said, I am a big enough fool to go see it in theaters and then come back here and b!ṭch about it if I didn't like it so... 🤷‍♂️

This was miles ahead of Endgame but I don't think a fair comparison can really be made.

Endgame was like the third act to everything that had come before far more than it was any kind of a standalone movie.

This was a third installment. It was important to understand the characters and their relationships for it to all really make sense but but unlike Endgame, it had a plot and an emotional story that was all its own.

I'm glad there won't be a 4 with this cast of characters because that means nobody can screw it up, even if they do keep the GOTG name going with the "new" crew.
