SPLITSVILLE

Is it really that successful at WDW to warrant this being in Anaheim as well? Not against it but I didn't think the WDW one was booming ... but I could be wrong in that?

I've heard that the food is good enough that people will eat there without bowling.
Living in Orlando myself, i've probably been bowling 2-3 times, ate at the restaurant about 10 times and stopped by late after work for a drink or three (they're normally open until 2) about 50+ times.

The cast there is beyond exceptional and being someone who frequents the bar, the bartenders usually just ask if I want my "usual" when I sit down. It's a nice all around vibe (with live musicians until close on the outdoor patio) and considering WDW is so large, you don't normally expect the bartenders to remember you.

Come on people.. are we really that out of touch with these types of venues?

It's not a bowling alley... It's a bar/resturant that uses bowling as it's entertainment gimmic. Some places have live bands, some have performance, some have video games, this is bowling.

The people who bowl at these places are people out to hang out with friends and bowl for an hour.. then have fun talking about how Lucy looked so goofy, or who dropped the ball, etc. Or parents taking their kids out for daytime entertainment.

These places do not look to be bowling meccas - They are upscale bars that focus on mixing some form of participation entertainment with your social gathering. They don't even offer regulation sized lanes. Heck, the latest incarnation of these here in my town don't even use bowling shoes.

Splitsville is not what you're used to in a bowling alley. It's not a big building with lanes side by side from wall to wall. There are cool little pockets of lanes around the place. And yes, food is good.

I don't bowl or see movies while I'm that close to a Disney park. I can bowl and see movies at home.

Do people really want to go through security to go bowling?

A lot of people say I don't want to be in a theme park 24hrs a day and look to do something different in the evenings or a different way to hang out.

Remember Disneyland has a huge ap crowd that just does day dodges all the time... meet your friends at dlr for the evening.. etc

I think it fits at dlr way more than it fits at DTD

In the video I posted the founder factors in cast members as part of the equation for predicted high traffic at WDW. I would assume the same would apply in Anaheim.

Yes... because Disney's barely paid above minimum wage is the perfect demographic for..
$14 nachos.. $8 french fries.. $14 sliders.. $23 dollar chicken parm.. $11 cocktails... $6-$10 beers.. etc

I think @71jason would say the cast may frequent the bar some? But its tough to say you count on the cast when you price them out.

There must be staff working in the parks, hotels, and in various support and management positions backstage making livable wages.

They still pay way less than market... because you get to work for Disney!!! And Orlando is poor in general due to focus on the service industry.

These guys count on the fact Orlando is a year round tourist spot and try to draw the locals out for their outtings. But locals ground base? Nah

I bet cast members get discounts on food.

I live in Corona, we have bowling alleys, but I would easily head down to DTD to bowl and have a few drinks...and then head over to Sam's.
I can definitely see the appeal.

I personally just wouldn't drive to Anaheim for DtD (I'm not a fan of DtD). I have numerous options in Los Angeles that are superior to that of DtD that I could choose from. I'm not a bowling person either.

I live in VA outside of DC. we are one of the few cities in America to have one of these venues and its GREAT! I am not a bowler, but I will bowl, and I enjoy the food / atmosphere. Its a decent add-on to DTD Anaheim.
