Does anyone know why they took out the thorns at the end of the ride?

They took the thorns out? This must have happened very recently - I was on Splash Mountain after Xmas and they were still there.

Likewise, I was there in January -- sure enough, there were thorns ...

Maybe they're afriad someone is going to jump out of the boat and land on one? That seems a bit extreme though.

If they took out the thorns they basically took away the ending of the story, so they can't. Plus it's a cool visual from the front of the attraction.

When I was there over mothers day weekend they werent there. They were still over the drop though. You know how after the drop they have the little turn around, there used to be thorns there, but they are gone now.

not sure I recall the thorns you are talking about...I just remember a canyon type area followed by the infamous waterfall...

Im pretty sure there were thorns at the turn around. The turn around is near the wooden bridge, and is right after the drop.

There are 2 brideges. The thorns, if I remember correctly, are by the first, closer bridge. They may have removed them temporarily to repaint them... I haven't been there since October, but the thorns were there.

OK... it's not really a bridge, more of a walkway... the drier part is what I call it. But the thorns are/were by the bridge that drenches guests observing.

Yeah, the thorns were there over Easter.
