Splash Mountain

With Splash Mountain closing on January 4, 2009 - this question is for those going to the Magic kingdom on the 1st through the 4th.

It seems the weather is holding up.. about 60 degrees daily with sunshine. Is that weather warm enough for splash mountain? Also, what do you guys recommend wearing to keep you from getting wet? When I rode last year, I got soaked.

Yep, it literally was a wave of water. Now, I'm not talking about a huge wave that you see at Islands of Adventures on Jurassic Park, but it was a wave of water. My pants looked like someone had poured a bucket of water of me. :lol:

You can believe it or not, but I don't think you were in the log with me that day. :wave:

I believe you, Nick. I've been hit by the wave before -- November 2007. My dad was not happy with me, as I convinced him to ride on that 65 degree day. My son thought it was hysterical.

I think I rode the ride 6 times after that particular ride. When you are drenched that much and the wait is as short as it was that day (10 minutes), why not? :shrug:

I have seen the wave of water too. It's funny when you are in the 3rd or 4th row, not so funny when you are in the 1st or 2nd row.

Just as an FYI - you can buy ponchos in the park for around $8. They are thicker plastic.

Or you can do what we do and buy them 2 for $1 at the dollar store before you go! They are thin, but they keep you dry!

Absolutely the truth. The ponchos around the 'World are a bit thicker (a little like a vinyl shower curtain)...but nothing justifies the price tag. Stop at a Wal-mart, Target, etc., before you go. They're also a great thing to have with you when dealing with the crazy Florida weather.

We rode during evening EMH in November, around 1:00 am. We had the log to ourselves. DH and DD sat in the front and I sat in the second row. it was about 48 degrees. They didn't get wet at all and wanted to ride again. I, in the second row, got drenched! They rode several more times in the front (since it was walk on) and never got wet enough to be cold.

Wave of water? seriously? it is Disney. The rides are fun but not quite extreme.

If you really want to get everyone in the log soaked sit in the front row and as you go down the big drop lean forward with your arms folded on the front of the log. It put more wait up front and drives the log deeper in the water. ***WARNING*** You will get extremely soaked from head to toe, but funny that everyone gets a fair share.

One thing that people that go to WDW have to realize is the Disney likes to do two thing to you in an attraction. One is to put you in the dark and the second is to get you wet. So take getting wet or don't go on why ruin it by wearing an uncomfortable pocho.

The whole fun of splash is to get soaked. I love it. I wish that no matter where you sit, you'd get soaked. If I sit in the front, I should try shifting the weight, lol.
