Splash Mountain testing single riders line!

For the next two weeks, Splash will be testing a single rider line.

Here is how it works,

1st, get a single rider pass (basically a Fastpass ticket, like Missions Space's) from the FP return greeter.
2nd, go into the FP line.
3rd, at the barn doors, you will get pulled out and sent up a side set of stairs near the train station, and leads to the top of the tunnel.
4th, FP/Stand-by merge has been moved to the top of the tunnel (near the train station) and those stairs lead to this point.
5th, hand tic to CM, then proceed down the left queue. the right queue is now used for the merged FP/SB line.
6th, at the end of the line, you wait to be placed into an epty seat on a log.

the only way a guest would know this even exists is if they happen to see the A-frames that say (single rider line)

so far not many taking advatage of it, however it has been cold, and Splash's FP have not even been going over well, and the ride has been basically a walk on, despite the large crowds in the park. If temps warm up, look for more to take advatage of this HUGE timesaver.

As far as the Singles line goes at Space Mnt, that one is moving from test phase to a more permenent set up. This is good news, as the ride can run more rockets per hour, if they are ful. why? well its complicated, but basically if a rocket goes out less then 4 guests, the timing must be adjusted to prevent the now slower rocket from getting to close to the next rocket behind it, possible 101 the attraction. This adjusting can reduce the # per hour, making lines longer. In addition, any seat that was going to go empty anyway, now gets filled. This increases guests per hour. that goes without saying.

So Singles lines are good news for guests, so take advatage of them, and more will begin to pop up all over the resort.

I just wish that more guests would learn to follow the CM's instructions when rides are loaded. :animwink:

Thanks for the news FLcastmember!

I'd rather have a single riders line at every attraction than a Fastpass system. It will fill in all the spaces left in logs and still keep stand-by steadily moving.

So one lane is now stand-by/Fastpass and one lane single riders? Did it used to be one lane Fastpass return, one lane stand-by? If this is so, won't alot of stand-by be in the windy (and since Fastpass rarely used) outside portion of the queue. Hey, I miss standing in that part anyway!

How does the seating arrangement work at Splash now? Would a single rider be seated next to a complete stranger or would they get a row of a log to themselves like in the past?

The seating is 2,2,2,2. (4 rows). Usually, single riders fill up teh extra space. Ex: a family of 4 gets on, and a family of 3...uh-oh- 1 extra seat! It goes to a single rider.

I'm not going to sit next to a complete stranger on that ride. That happened once to me on another similar ride and i was uncomfortable. It is a pretty stupid idea in my opinion, and if they try to put somebody next to me I'll complain and refuse it, that or just lie and say I have 6 people when I have 5, either way I'm sitting with a friend, or alone, complete stranger be damned.

I feel the exact same way. On a ride with no real seat dividers and not much room to spare it would just be too weird and uncomfortable for me.

Yes, it seems that there is a 'personal space' issue here that Disney have failed to recognise.

If there were big rows, say 5 or six, then it's not so bad, but when it's just you and a complete stranger then it can be, well... strange!.

I'm with you guys on this one. There's not too much room in those rows, and when you put two adults in a row, they're definitely touching, especially on the drops. Plus, what if you get a kid sitting next to a strange adult? That could just get weird.

Yeah, I too agree on this issue. Single riders need to have their own space. But hey, if it'll get you through a 75 minute Test Track line in 25 minutes or a 90 minute Mission:SPACE line in 15 minutes, I'd rather wait in a smaller line and sit next to a complete stranger rather wasting my time in a ridiculously huge line. The only time I had a problem was on Rock n Roller Coaster, when I had gone alone on it one time I sat next to a very large guest, which made it uncomfortable. And he was screaming the entire time. But Splash, I mean those rows are very small and i'd like to have a row to myself rather than be uncomfortable sitting in the small row with a complete stranger.

Good to hear Splash finallly has a Single Riders line, it will help during the peak seasons when lines are very long.

Just like Test Track, basically!

it wouldn't be too bad if there was, say a family of 4 and a couple on a log and they put 2 single riders in the log. That way, your are atleast somewhat acquainted with the person next to you. I also sometimes, if i go with on friend, we opt for the singles line to cut back on the wait. so that wouldn't be to bad.:xmas:

I really hate the idea that you sit next to a complete stranger. When I last went to Disney in EPCOT, I was a single rider on Test Track and as there was an empty seat, I sat by this strange looking gangster guy and it made me scared. For example, if you ever sit by a stranger you dont know what their gonna do, YOU HARDLY KNOW THIS PERSON. All I'm saying is pretend your with another group of people and just go by yourself.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEXT VACATION!!!!

The single riders line is a really excellent idea and a good service for people who are there by themeselves or would like to ride by themselve instead of go as a group but wait. Our family has used it for TT before and it is a real timesaver, Its awesome that they are expeding the program to more rides.

This ride is different though, you dont really have seperate seats, you're just sharing space with a stranger. I'm sorry but the last thing I want to do on this ride is possibly share my seat with some fat guy who smells bad (and there are quite a few of these after several hours in the Florida sun.) A singles line makes sense only if there is a completely empty row and they put 2 singles in it. On rides like Test Track, Mission Space, Space Mountain, etc it makes sense because it's really an empty seat, on Splash it's just forcing somebody to be uncomfortable just because they happen to have an odd number of people in their group.

I just wanted to let you know that even when you ride with people you know on Splash, you still have to share the log. When me and my friends went once on an E-night ,we had to share one with 3 noisy teenagers. They kept trying to knock the log off course and hit it and shake it and it was scary. So just try and get a good log or walk in with a mild looking family and ride with them. Singles on Splash may or may not be good thing.

Sharing a log and sharing my "personal space" are different. I can handle obnoxious people, hell i've got to be one of the most obnoxious people there is. I just dont want to have to feel uncomfortable for 10 minutes while they are sitting next to me.
