Splash Mountain secret

Yes it may have been true at the time. But now I doubt if anything over there is free. But you never know now. Just treat CM's with respect and they will respect you.

Maybe it was because it was the soft opening.

You got to ride Mission Space before official opening, isn't that good enough?

They Do That To Some Of The Major Thrill Rides.. SM, TOT, RnRc..

Also, They Give 'Magic Moments' Thingy Certificates When You're The Last One To Ride.. I Know They Do This At SE..

AND.. Those 'Family/Kid/etc. Of The Day' Things On Selected Places (WoL, M:S, etc..)

Although.. I Never Got One..

That's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool. So is it everyday?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread.

But to answer this question, it should be an everyday occurance. I worked at Splash Photo for 7 months and every morning the first riders get a log to themselves, a free photo (5x7 size), and a magical moments certificate. I was there in 2002 and we also gave away picture #2002 along with the certificate and picture #'s 1100, 2100, 3100, etc. with the certificate for 100 years of magic. I would assume that they still do the year one (like this years would be 2004), but they probably don't do the 1100, etc... anymore.

I used to really like doing the magical moments. It was fun to make the guest's day! The most memorable one was probably this little kid who gave me a hug as thanks for the magical moment. The first one I did was sorta funny too. The conversation went like this:

me to guest: Hi! Is this your picture?
guest: Oh we don't want it.
me: But is this your picture?
guest: We said we don't want it
me: But are you in this picture?
guest: yes, but...
me: Well today's your lucky day cause you're getting it free today as part of the magical moments celebration.
guest: well thankyou
me: here's your magical picture and a certificate to go along with it.

It was always fun. They would occasionally get missed if we were busy and no one could go outside, or if the person on edit didn't notice the number, but for the most part we did our best to always get those magical moments done. Every once in a while, the preview person would notice and do it or the guest would be planning to buy the picture and the person on registers would give them the free one from there too. (I did that a few times). I loved working there!

I agree - nothing is "free" at Disney. The only time I would think they give away photos is when the Cast Member is being friendly on their own, the camera or machines are messing up, or by freak coincidence.

If the bean-counters heard that it was a "policy" they'd freak!

Yea, you're absolutely right. That "free" picture probably ended up costing you 100s if not 1,000s of dollars, for hotel room, gas/ticket, and admission. :p

A while ago at Oakwood where there were about 15 people in the park, I did Megafobia about 50 times total, about 35 times straight at one point. I got a free photo for that. :)

Nothing in the world is ever free. Some way or another your paying for that picture and all the other "free" pictures. Whether its by paying $2.50- For a regular bottle of soda that is normaly a dollar or $7.00 for a BBQ sandwhich and fries at the Land Pavillion that anywhere else is at most $4.00. SO NO YOU DID NOT GET A "FREE" PICTURE.

You can look at it however you want, but in my opinion, something given to you without charge, that everyone else has to pay for is free. A bottle of coke will be the same price regardless of whether you get a free photo.
