At least 20k had an argument for it’s closing (capacity was trash) I think capacity and use of land should trump most things and 20k wasn’t good at either.

The problem is that they didn't use the land for anything else for like 20 years -- the park lost capacity with the closure. It just sat there in the middle of the park.

If they'd closed it and immediately replaced it with something else with a higher capacity, then that would make sense.

Horizons, UOE, GMR, EPCOT Future World, SWGE would all disagree with you.
Naw, this is going to top those among a broader audience around the world. I agree all the changes to Epcot and GMR are far worse, but they’re not really makeovers, and those hit home to a smaller group of fans than bicoastal Splash.

What talent is left?

MMRR was co-led by Rafferty (lengthy Imagineering resume) and Carter. If not mistaken, it was one of her first major projects.

Baxter’s supposed involvement seems to be window dressing to reassure the die hards. There’s been no public indication since the initial press release he’s involved in a meaningful way.
It was her first major project. Hopfully this redo is better since I was severely underwhelmed by MMRR

Tony Baxter should get stuck in a traffic jam again to come up with another winner…

Anyone ride the train yet to see if the viewing area in the train tunnel is viewable and Is the segment of the narration referencing Splash removed?

The singing bunny version of Splash Mtn. has left the kingdom. Forever. No amount of arguing and arguing and arguing will ever bring it back. Let’s just hope the retheme is well done.

In the meantime, I’m gonna go ride Ripsaw falls. 😃

The silver lining: it's obviously not close to the real thing, but we live in an age where one can pull up a high-resolution POV video of the entire original attraction and revisit it, at least visually and aurally, any time they want. I already have!
