I hear what you’re saying. Okay Splash is due for a retheme. I get it. But the other “eradication” moves (ala Aunt Jemima or Uncle Ben’s) are just a little too heavy handed. (Zippity Do Dah removed wherever possible, Brer Bear and Rabbit removed from MNSSHP parade, etc).

Not necessarily a re-theme was needed, but they wanted to reduce maintenance costs.

And your mention of Aunt Jemima makes me think about the SNL skit with Dave Chappelle. 😂

It's pretty well-known that the Bob's don't like high maintenance costs. They'd rather spend money on a new ride ("shiny thing!!!") than maintain old stuff.

Tell that to everyone who ridiculed me as yet another reason to rethem Splash under the PR spin they making it out to be. As i said i will admit im wrong if the new ride has the same amount of AA as Splash does but im a gambling man and willing to wager it be nowhere close…

Look, I don't understand why people on the WDW things cite you not having an Avengers' Campus yet (YET being the operative) as evidence that the retheme isn't happening when we are DLR have one and we absolutely do not want it. It's terrible. You can literally have ours.

What are you talking about? Avengers Campus as it exists today couldn't be replicated in WDW because of the Universal-Marvel contract.
We knew a hell of a lot more for ROTR, Tron, Runaway RR, etc way ahead of time. So either the project is really far behind in development....or nothing is being said because it won't be all that spectacular....Again this from the same WDI that share fine details of flooring tiles in projects years before they actually are completed.

Or could it be that Disney is saving more details for D23?

It's also possible that Disney is changing its PR strategy and not announcing so much so far in advance, which would have the benefit of masking when projects are inevitably slimmed down and managing expectations.

Earlier in this thread, people were complaining about Avengers Campus/ Avengers-related something, and using that as "proof" the retheme was canceled. It was several pages back. IDK if it's even still there.

We're in the era of "make stuff up and anyone will believe it" (which is THE justification for purging Zip from everywhere), so you shouldn't be surprised.
Who’s fault is that tho for allowing it to happening?!? Accepting this lunacy is why we are here and im not just talking Disney…

I'm right there with you. This is one project I would be happy to eat crow on. But there is no part of this that has quality redo written on it. Im guessing we get a couple nice AA show scenes and then a lot of projection effects with a few small AAs thrown about.

Disney's been silent about PatF... Tiana's days are past, she's not represented in the parks...

It's like there's they're trying to say something...

OR, they won’t bother to repair the ones they DO use, they’ll just reskin them and they’ll break down a month after the ride opens…

Hey, on another note the Brandy/Whitney Cinderella is airing on ABC at 9 tonight following a special that is on now. Don’t forget to tune in!

There were reasons for those aborted activations.

I mentioned above that the Main Street theater project has structural issue making it impossible (or way more costly than anticipated).

Avenger Campus did come about. I assume you mean its E-Ticket, whose first iteration was killed because Ops didn't want another low capacity ride. So, it was delayed to find a new ride and then the pandemic delayed it. It's still supposed to happen.

The Festival Pavilion was put on pause due to the pandemic lockdowns. Then they changed their minds about what to do several times. They still went ahead and tore down the Northwest quadrant of Communicore. And then went ahead with JoW and a revamped Festival Center. So... still a Festival Center.

Spaceship Earth and Mary Poppins were put on indefinite hold due to the pandemic. Disney hasn't said they're dead dead.

But, most of these have the same thing in common: The pandemic.

Well... we're sorta out of the pandemic, and guess what Disney has been talking more and more about on this side of the pandemic: PatF retheme. It survived the pandemic whereas other projects didn't.

It's coming.
I’m not even counting on wonderous China coming until the poster goes out front w/ showtimes. Let me doubt. :)

The only thing that matters is that whatever they come up with has to be better in terms of quality and show than what they currently have. Which means they have some very big shoes to fill. If all we get is a lot of talk and very little to show for it in terms of what they actually implement, then it will be another Disney failure
Splash is really a perfect ride. It all blends well. But the music is really what sets it apart. And not just zipadee. But Laughin place, etc all are just fantastic placements. And it’s 12 minutes long and the music is never redundant or gets old.

Compared to Navii which gets old and it’s a 45 second ride (I jest, barely).

So yes, huge shoes to fill. But if any catalog of music can keep your foot tapping and interested for a 12 minute ride, it’s PatF. Loads of great tunes in there that should hold up just fine. I truly think of all IPs, this is the one that has the best shot at taking that torch.
In a perfect world I wish we got the ToT/GotG different mix at WDW/DL and only one park changed, but I’m more than fine with this transformation.

And even if the retheme is a dud or not, people, you can just not ride it. In both parks, it's basically out of the way and easily avoidable. No one is making you do anything.
“If they take a great ride and make it a garbage ride, who cares… just don’t ride it” is an absolutely terrible take.

I think (hope) this describes only a minority of people.
Agreed. Most people can look through it at face value. Only the fanatics look at it, well, fanatically.

I absolutely do care, but there's absolutely nothing I can do about the change. Nothing. It's not a garbage take at all. It's accepting the reality.

Saying there’s nothing you can do if the change is executed poorly is one thing.

If you’re going to take something great, keep it great. That should be the expectation. Not “if it sucks, just don’t ride and stop your yapping”

We should complain as much a possible w/ guest services.
Although I truly think it will be a worthy successor and the worry of an inferior ride is much ado about nothing.

Do i think there is anything that can be done about Splash id say 99% no BUT if people keep voicing their opinions & being loud and clear that non sense like this is going to be counter productive & is not needed than maybe it stops the insanity with this company but then again they pick & choose what they feel is offensive and allowed.
