ride computer system is being replaced with a new one during this refurb... gonna have a quicker 'reboot' time on the mountain in the event of a cascade...
- new computer system
- new paint, same paint as thunder.. much more durable, should last a LOT longer... (ceramic)
- upgrades to lighting in finale
- changes to servo control for animatronics in 2 zones
- track realignment (typical part of the annual refurb)
- other things that I don't know.

thanks! here's hoping "other things that i don't know" means fixing broken effects

Where are you going this info? Not saying it is incorrect but your comments on them tells me you don't have a clue how anything works, unless someone is giving you that info also.

So do you really know how these systems work or you just relaying info that you heard?

Well, after visiting recently, the dancing waters still weren't working, and the "geyser" at the beginning that gets you wet only worked part of the time. And of course we heard," it looks like Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox are causin some commotion down stream..." many times!:( Yikes! I really hope it gets the love it deserves!

I remember that you used to get a lot more wet than you do now, which along with all other problems I hope are fixed...lets all keep our fingers crossed so splash returns to its former glory!

Great news. Hope they fix everything that is broken. I wonder if there will be any next gen stuff added or interactive queue areas? BTMRR looked great after its refurb this year so I'm sure it will look great. This is my favorite ride in al of WDW so I am glad it's getting the love it needs and will be done by the time I get back there. I would be pretty sad if it was closed during a trip.

Same source as what I was told about BTMRR's refurb, and it was 100% accurate including the upcoming interactive portion of the queue.. Which , by the way, will be interesting.. but not as good as some of the gimmics in the mansion queue (for better or worse, that's up to you)

Think it's a good bet that if the ride's taken down for that amount of time, as long as there's nothing out of the ordinary keeping effects and animatronics from being repaired, maintenance will try to get to everything they possibly can.
