Back when I still lived in Tennessee, a family of possums made a home in our attic. They're really cute to me.

Anyways, the ride has been in relatively decent shape since it got its major overhaul a few years back. Though last few times, a chicken or two has been missing from the riverboat and it could do with a paint touch up already.

Yeah, I think it’s been in great shape. It should be positively pristine by next month.

Can't wait to see it in December all shined up.

i agree since that big refurb it has been really solid. no idea how anyone can not like it...its so well done.

as an aside i think i like the lighter tree color of the other versions..the red clay looks fine but the tree itself being so dark meh.

For me, part of the appeal is not just all the things mentioned above but that it was done on a grand scale. They could have done it much more smaller and less impressive than they did. Definitely old school high quality Disney Imagineering.

Especially if you find one in your trash can. Happened to me. Your first thought is "GIANT RAT", plus they have long fangs coming out of their mouths. People here who think they're cute have likely never encountered one in person. I've seen possum babies too. And really...even they aren't that cute. Fox cubs are cute. Raccoon cubs are cute. Coyote pups are cute. Possums, not so much. But hey, balance of nature, circle of life, live and let live. Just stay away from me.

I've encountered and had to interact with quite a few wild possums on multiple occasions. As I said, we had a family of possums that made a home in our attic back when I used to live in Tennessee. I've dealt with them close to their most aggressive state as well and had to actually remove them myself, including mothers and babies. Something I wouldn't be comfortable doing myself with most other wild mammals. And despite seeing them at their most aggressive and having been inconvenienced by them, I like them and think they are very cute. Especially baby possums, but the adults are cute too.

Any animal can be dangerous and scary looking under certain circumstances. And possums CAN put on a show of seeming fiercer than they really are if you push them too far. But possums are some of the least prone to going into an aggressive state i've seen compared to other mammals. They'll growl if they're VERY scared and cornered, but they're relatively docile and they tolerate quite a lot of pushing to get them this far.

That doesn't mean you should ever try to mess with them, any wild animal will attack and bite if you push them far enough (which can vary greatly for individual animals, plus they could have rabies and other diseases). But in terms of possums, they're definitely of less concern than many other animals from my experience.

HM stops all the time for wheelchair bound guests (it should. Not complaining). Feels like an eternity in there. Fine by me but are you sure you want to ride?

When I went this past August on the last 2 days it was open before the refurb, the hopping Brer Rabbit was MIA. How long had he been down for though? Obviously he'll be fixed, but just curious. I was bummed he wasn't working.

It wasn't working when I was on in Early August. Not sure how long it wasn't working though.

And anyway, even though Splash Mountain is my favorite ride at MK, I'm glad @jaxonp doesn't like it, less of a wait for me to get on the ride
