I would say that Disney has shown some pretty cool results recently with the combination of projected effects along with physical environments. Look at Mystique Manor or the enchanted mirror in Story Time with Belle. Those represent just how good TWDC can be at marrying the two mediums.

Exactly - neither are 'bad' - what is bad are the implementations. The newer POTC in DHS is another example of the blended tech.

I just shake my head when this argument comes up over and over... it always focuses on the 'how' instead of focusing on the important stuff.. which is the WHAT the attraction is. It's epidemic because fans want to study 'how' things are accomplished and then fall into the trap of just trying to clone what was done before instead of actually learning how/why something works well or not.

I know that, I'm just trying to get a point across with enough time and effort you can make some pretty outstanding technologies that break the laws of the regular theme park agenda. If Universal can make meet and greet Transformers that move(I know people are in them) They can surely make an animatronic. Universal made the 39 ft Kong animatronics, hell they made two. They made a whole attraction that looked just like New York City and morewith not one screen!

If you can't see the differences in what you just outlined... I'm done.

Is How To Train Your Dragon the ride destined for KidZone?

I heard that it's Smurfs.

A broken yeti is still more realistic and more lifelike. He is in the room with you not on a screen. He can disco too if you use your IMAGINATION.

My wife and I have ridden EE 3 or 4 times and every time I ask her, did you see the yeti? Nope, where is it again?

I'm just glad to hear that there is still a company willing to put some elaborate animatronic elements in their rides. Possibly in a good way.

Smurfs doesn't sound very good, is that a joke?

Smurfs was mentioned in a guest survey. But the sequel opened to poor business last weekend. Who knows if that would affect the decision makers?

Then why would the opening date for the meet/greet be "Fall 2013" and the coaster "Spring 2014"?

I could see the media plus of having both (and the new parade) start on the same day, but even Disney would be embarassed to drag out the opening another six months.
I could be wrong...we shall see. It isn't difficult to roll back the startup. I mean who is really going to complain about a M & G.

I really hope the Smurfs 2 is the last of those movies. I heard Smurfs 3 is going to be some terrible Gargamel origin story that rips off Harry Potter with Gargamel as a kid being mocked at wizard school.

Overhype of a franchise. As seen many times before. They should just let something be ya know?

Revenge of the Mummy. Have you ridden it?
I also hate the idea that Disney fanboys have ingrained in their head that seeing coaster track = awful! Hulk is very photogenic as it goes out over the lagoon. Rip Ride Rockit provides a cool backdrop for the concert stage. Or there's Manta, which looks beautiful paired with its surroundings and landscaping. Or California Screamin'. Coasters also add visual kinetic energy and excitement to an area.

The point is, when implemented well, there's nothing wrong with exposed coaster track.
