People in the USA who just fly domestically and in coach have no idea how pleasant flying can be ... now, we just need to get those Dreamliners back in the air (the only UAL plane I have any interest in flying right now!)
Kinda like WDW. Tired, outdated planes; rate increases, benefits and amenities cut; race from gate to gate; and queue up in stanbye.

In this case, I know my own consumer behavior well. That is how I have gone close to 20 consecutive trips without every buying a single thing in any gift shop Disney has. I don't go there to buy stuff, I go for the park experience. Yes, I will buy water, Mickey Bars, Dole Whip Floats and lunch at a counter service place, but other then that...not interested. Note: Even the 19th visit when I bought a couple of T-shirts for my Grandchildren, it was out of guilt and not Disney induced guilt either.

That would mean that #2 applies to me. That is why I am not concerned about that part of the NextGen plan book. How it affects my in park time, etc. still remains to be seen, so I'll reserve judgement until then.

Knowing that about you is just as valuable, if not more - especially in this case.
Something tells me you should be more concerned than you are. But, that's entirely up to you.

How dare you?! Disney is king... No one beats them! And you have the nerve to call yourself a Disney fan. Mickey Mouse forever!(meanwhile, construction continues at Universal...) -__________-

When I finally get to Florida to visit WDW, I will come back to California and patiently wait for you and @Cosmic Commando to move to the Golden State. I'll hold my breath while I'm at it to speed up the process.:D
Sounds like a good idea... I miss the sun. Here's the weather forecast for today (and that's not Celsius):

It is indeed an attraction (perhaps two).

DVC in the parking lot is/was very much a blue sky deal. Sorta the same (but not exactly) with World Showcase, but wouldn't expect that for a long time if ever.
I have to ask, WL DVC was seriously being considered? We, hadn't heard a peep about that one in a long long time.

I was able to find a google cache of it last night. I needed sleep, but couldn't pull away from it. Major kudos to mrudolf, georgiapines and a few others. Hilarious. I'm so sorry I missed out on the beat down.
I missed it, and now it seems to be gone. The links I found just came back to a generic page on here.

I was in at the beginning of it, but then just decided to go to Islands of Adventure instead. And good golly was IOA crowded. The Single Riders line for Forbidden Journey was 40 mins at 6:00pm, Stand-by was 75 mins. Hulk and Spider-man an hour. I spent a fair amount of time sitting in the Hog's Head drinking Hog's Bites (Hog's Head Brew and Strongbow Hard Cider).

Let's see, a holiday weekend is ending. And what's news in the Disney community?

Well, how about the DVC at FW being 'postponed indefinitely' ... my take on it was that's going to cost too much money to develop due to its amazing location (you know, one that Disney has actively let rot since 2001).

An EPCOT project appears to be inching forward shockingly.

Folks close to Shanghai DL are saying that their budget keeps heading in the wrong direction.

Heard the O-Town Disney parks were quite crowded over the weekend and hours were extended (not quite sure why as friends were at an empty DAK last night when the park stayed open until 8:30). I don't quite get why Disney would think that on the ONLY holiday weekend in January this year (due to NYE being on a Monday), they wouldn't get crowds. They really can't get their act together on basic ops issues whether it's closing EPCOT too early or allowing MK to be open ridiculously long (7 a.m. to 3 a.m.) last month on select days.

I am sure part of this had to do with the $119 three-day FL resident offer and the unseasonably warm weather 2013 has brought.

Best fanboi pickup line I have heard (yes, it was used on me): ''You can drive your monorail through my Grand Canyon Concourse anytime.'' Those funny cute wittle fanbois ...
I was here all weekend, and the crowds were heavier than I expected. All things considered though the walkways themselves weren't congested it was the queues themselves. It really speaks to the fact that MK needs another major attraction (probably in addition to SDMT) so that they can perform regular maintenance (Splash is down), and each of the other parks need an additional 1-2 major attractions to absorb the crowds.

What also shocked me is the 30 minute wait to get into Be Our Guest for lunch. The wait itself didn't shock me, but the fact that it didn't ease the congestion over any of the other quick service locations surprised/confused me.

As for the hours this weekend. They were identical to last year at DHS, Epcot and DAK, but the MK had at least an hour (and up to 3 hours) cut from MLK weekend last year. I fully expected them to update park hours during the day. While I know that they did it wasn't posted in enough places and I didn't hear it as a park wide announcement. I did however, see it on the My Disney Experience app but not under "notifications", just on the park hours page. They also only updated the MK hours being extended to 11, and not the DAK hours being extended to 8:30.

Speaking of fanboi pickup lines (and more specifically fun games to play), we brought a golf ball on Soarin' to "catch" and give to my nephew. He's still dumfounded as to how that happened and went so far as explaining to us on a subsequent ride that you can only catch it if you're in the third row. To that end, I think a similar thing can be done as part of a marriage proposal inside PhilharMagic. When Ariel is showing off her "treasures", reach out for the ring and propose.

Back to more pessimistic things, I saw how my family toured this week, and while we utilized GAC access, if we couldn't use that access I see absolutely no way that we could utilize Fastpass+ with any degree of success. Disney's own restaurants can't keep up with reservations and as a result it's unrealistic to always adhere to a 1 hour return window. There either needs to be an extension of that return window (2 or 3 hours) or an elimination of it all together. I would say that if you're scheduling 60-180 days out, you're not going to know when the 36 year old autistic man in your party is going to have to spend 30 minutes in the bathroom, or the 6 year old is going to have a similar "emergency" when he's next in line on both Thunder Mountain and Journey of the Little Mermaid within 3 hours. What about when we check in 20 minutes early for our Be Our Guest or Ohana reservations and aren't seated until 30 minutes after those reservations?

I know Disney will accept Fastpasses late if an attraction features downtime, but I ask what was wrong with the previous system? Utilize the late return policy, link it to your ticket/app and make it only available day of. You can still data mine guests to the point where they feel violated, many guests aren't going to care. However, this sounds more and more like it's going to ruin vacations.

You have no idea how much I want to move back to SoCal ... this year we had no fall here in paradise and 2013 has largely been days of 80-plus without much sun, but with lots of humidity. ... And please don't hold your breath, I have enough pressure on me as is!:)
After years in SoCal, I can't wait to get the h@ll out. Grass, greener, yada. On the other hand, after various years on projects in FL, I couldn't deal there, either.

First, I love Maui and haven't been back in years and would never compare O-Town to the islands. I can't imagine January upstate being like a tropical paradise with tradewinds and amazing beaches.

The past two years the island has been a lot less green but where we stay on ka'napali is still heaven on earth to me.

And yet, even with all maui's paradise-ness, wdw was still my favorite vacation spot. Time to step it up Disney, it's going to take more then another kiss from Snow White to put you back in the number one spot.

Spirit, do you think I'm crazy for having a lot of hope for D23?

@WDW1974 Did you see the post from a certain "unplugged" fan site blog? Everything is MAGICal! Is that guy a paid mouthpiece of Celebration?

(Sorry, not sure of rules of mentioning other sides and am not "inside" enough to know who writes that blog).

Nothing like flying the 777. I remember when they were flown on domestic routes more regularly too. Now you can usually only fly domestically on one if you're fortunate enough to be on a plane that is re-positioning (i.e. Tokyo-Houston, Houston-Newark, Newark to London, etc). Though this isn't that common either since those jets can easily fly from Houston to London.
