I'm looking for a fun dinner. Wife and I was checking out the dinner and show so we booked spirit of aloha. I haven't seen many reviews of it on here. What's your thoughts on it? Is it worth 2 credit?

Also have a 6 year old daughter also.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
We rather Hoop Dee Doo for a fun dinner show and do so every trip but you can't go wrong with either. Look at the menus and see if it's what appeals to you most. Also do note that being the Luau is outdoors it has been known to be canceled due to weather at the last minute before for really cold weather or bad storms etc. Hoop Dee Doo is indoors so it never gets canceled due to weather. :)

We looked at the HDD but the food just seems like food we can cook our self at home.

For Polynesian food we prefer 'Ohana or Kona at Poly. And yes we can get the food at HDD at home but it's still absolutely delicious regardless and a really fun show. Also after many fancier meals at WDW that we also love we like to have some good down home comfort food during our trip as well. :)

This question comes up often and I am one of the rare few who give it positive reviews. I really like this show, yes it has a hokey storyline but it's lots of fun. Hula dancers, fire eaters, several variations of dance from the different polynesian cultures.

The food...eh not so great but passable. The adult beverages are all you can drink which may have swayed my opinion of past performances. So don't go expecting a great dining experience it's more about the show. I'll be there again this year in July.
I'm paying cash which is like $75/PP so the cash value definatly equals 2 credits.

If you're already going to Ohana, then I'd absolutely opt for Hoop Dee Doo instead of the Luau. Don't know why, but the Luau always disappointed me but HDD is always a blast.

I totally agree. 'Ohana being the food is similar and they are already doing that I would definately say to do HDD if keeping 'Ohana. HDD also is all you care to enjoy of different beers and sangria as well! But again that's only my preference and it's what they want to do as a family most. :)

We decided since we have Ohana reservation the following night, we canceled luau. We been trying to figured out a night for crystal palace so we switched it out.

Here's another question, we booked crystal palace at 6:00pm. There's also MVMC that night but we don't have ticket that night. Will we be forced to leave the park by 7?

No you can finish your meal of course and take your time, and then they will escort you/tell you to go towards the front to leave when your finished. Now if you made it at 7pm or later yes you would need a party ticket but since it's at 6pm before the party starts you're fine. :)

I would never, EVER miss the luau. It is always the first reservation I make. Just the fire dancer alone is worth the trip. The hoop DE do bores me. Sorry folks.

I have to agree. Hoop de doo is a bore and the food while good you can go to trails end dinner buffet for over half the price. The luah is no better but i would enjoy that show. Foodwise, ohana is the place to go.

Hoop Dee Do is one of the best shows on property, and the food is fantastic. I would go every visit if it wouldn't ruin the experience for us, with as often as we go!

We love the Luau as well, but I agree that if you're going to Ohana, it might feel redundant, food wise. However, the entertainment at the Luau is also fantastic. The food is a little mediocre but it's the service where they really fail. Every time we've gone (3 in the past 6 years or so) they've been hurried (no matter the show time) and rude, and we've not enjoyed that part of the experience at all.
