Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

I've been reading some pretty bad reviews about the Spirit of Alohoa dinner show at the Polynesian Resort. Customer complaints focus on undisney-like (rude) service and mediocre food. Is this dinner show worth it? This show came highly reccomended by a Priority Seating Reservationist and I currently have a rsvp for my family. Anyone with recent first hand experience? Thanks.

I hope Disney gets some of this poor feedback and takes action.

The Luau should be HIGHlight of the vacation...not a letdown!

With such a beautifully perfect location and captive audience, not to mention the talent of Disney Show planners, there is no excuse for anyone coming away from a Disney production feeling disappointed.

I'd like to see it re-done from top to bottom into the first class dinner show experience it should be!

Heck....the food at OHANA is AWESOME! Imiagine them serviing the same stuff...outside.....with Hula Dancers and Fire Eaters.....all at a premium price! Now THAT'S a show worth investing in!!!!!!

Here's hoping the Tiki gods are smiling on us!!!

I thought the show sucked. The music and dancing was all really dumb. I did enjoy the food, but for 50 bucks, no thanks. Try something else, like acharacter meal. Hope this helps. Have Fun!

Pity they can't do roast pig in an underground oven pit. I know the tourists love that when they attend luaus in Hawaii.

Yep! At least it would be original to South Florida!
It makes so much sense to go all the way like they do with other WDW themed operations.

It's just funny to me that one of the best restaurants in all of WDW is at the same resort (OHANA) and yet the food at the Luau just outside is the cause of so many unsatisfied guests. Ummm.....not too hard to put two and two together there! The luau needs to do whatever OHANA is doing!

As for the pig roast though....I'm all over THAT idea! :slurp:

Glad I saw this post. We are booked for the Luau in about a week. The only reason we booked it is our 4 year old daughter saw pictures of it on the Disney website. Right now anything with beautiful girls in dresses (or in this case hula skirts) is what she wants to see.

That being said, for 2 adults and 1 child it is $125.00 for the show. If it is as bad as everyone is saying, I think I might rethink this. It was mentioned in this thread that there is some sort of a show at Ohanas. Can someone post a little bit more about that and what the cost is and if it is appropriate for a 4 year old.

Thanks,
Mike

Don't really know about a show at 'Ohana, but she would love the Hoop De Do Review... girls in pretty dresses, lots of song and dance, corny jokes.
You get to play the washboard during the show, too... my kids always loved that!
The food is great BBQ and the strawberry shortcake is a perfect ending. IMHO its more than worth the money. Head over to Fort Wilderness early and wander around... there is so much to see and do.

I have done the Hoop Dee Doo and really like it. We originally were not planning any shows but she saw the girls on the site and wanted to see it. Also we are staying there which helped.

Not sure what to do. We had talked about the Hoop Dee Doo originally but decided to wait until next trip.

I hate these last minute descisions. :veryconfu

O'hanas is completely different from the luau in a lot of respects. There isnt so much of a "Show" per se. They do have entertainment in the form of yukelele players, hula lessons for the kids ( Big and little) coconut races around the restaurant etc. I think the food is better than the luau and have been there several times and will be going again I Am sure as it is one of the favorites of my bunch of friends!!! Thanks, I need to think about this. The show was why we were doing the Luau, not really the food but we don't want to have horrible food either. This is so confusing.

I saw the Luau both before and after the change and I liked it so much better before. It has a much more "kiddie" spin on it now, which I guess makes it appealing to small children, but the dancing was enough before, I thought. The food and service were never great, but at least when the show was good you could kind of over look it. I hope you enjoy wherever you decide to go--there's so many great options, better than the Luau, in my opinion.
